Product Description:

SketchBox is a Sticky Notes Manager that supports graphical and text notes that can be used as reminders. Notes can be arranged via drag'n'drop in the thumbnail view to create little storyboards or comics.

Each Sticky consists of three layers: The drawing canvas, a little text editor and an intuitive alarm timer that combines analog and digital elements. While editing text the drawing layer is still visible in the semitransparent background and vice-versa.

SketchBox is designed not to interrupt your workflow. You can close Stickies at any time and they will remember their position on screen and their content without bothering you with a save panel. Closed Stickies are always accessible via the thumbnail view. You can stick individual notes to the Desktop if you don't want them to clutter ExposŽ or make them appear always on top for important things.

The drawing canvas has extensive support for graphics tablets with pressure sensitivity and you can use the backside of your pen as an eraser. Save your creations as a PNG file with alpha channel or just copy them over to other applications.

SketchBox also works great as a reminder. You don't have to enter numbers, just wind up the clock with your mouse by dragging or using your scroll wheel.

What's new in this version:

  • Added default size preference for new stickies.
  • Added background color preference for copy/paste (for better compatability with NeoOffice).

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.4 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.4 or higher (Universal)

SketchBox CommentaryNice app - but heavy on CPU usage - Version: 1.4, 9/22/2009 11:25AM PST

I've been using this to store quick jots of data and it's been a great tool. But...

I did just notice today that the App uses a great deal of CPU time in the background. Not sure what it's doing. I've had the app running for less than 3 hours and it's used about 80 minutes of CPU time. I'm running OSX 10.6.1, which might or might not be related to the excessive CPU usage. This is the first time I've really looked at it so I can't say if this is a new behavior or has been there on earlier OSX releases.

With the excessive CPU usage, this isn't a tool I can recommend.

SketchBox ReviewGreat!!!! With one minor improvement... - Version: 1.4, 1/14/2009 03:38AM PST

This app is great. I've been after something that was more fully-featured than Stickies, but essentially along the same lines. This app does everything I wanted. Brilliant! The only one new feature I need to make it completely 100% useful for me would be to add a setting to set the default window level for new stickies. Currently, I have to change this after creating the sticky. Not a big deal, but something that would be awesome.
Also, the ability to remove little right tab that sticks out from the side of the sticky when it isn't foreground... my sticky looks a bit odd with a massive 'A' stuck out the side of it for each sticky!
If these couple of items could be looked at, I'd gladly pay for this.
Thanks!

SketchBox ReviewSlow and clunky - Version: 1.4, 6/17/2008 12:29PM PST

Simply dragging the note windows around my dual monitor setup feels like they're stuck in molasses. Needs improvement!
