Product Description:

Security_Key lets you create a "Security_Key" (similar to an ignition on a car) out of a USB Flash Drive. This "Security_Key" must be present when the machine boots or it willl immediately put the display to sleep. Also, if you eject the disk, your computer will immediately sleep. Now, you cannot wake the machine up untill the "Security_Key" is re-inserted. I recommend making a clone of this "Security_Key" on a CD and storing somewhere for emergency situations.

Okay, I must let you know that you should make the security key and test it before using the Firmware Password Utility.

Okay, not enough to warrant a new version number, but I have fixed the installer. Now, it will NOT force your system to restart after successfull installation. Instead, you will have to manually restart the machine. This will give you time to create a backup of your key or whatever you need to do. Sorry for those of you who created your keys on disk images and not USB Flash drives. You can now do that and clone it to your USB drive before restarting.

What's new in this version:

Even better solution. Now, using "Firmware Password Utility.app", which is included on you install disc (and in my install package), you can set the Firmware password. This prevents anyone from booting your computer as: single-user, safe-mode, target-disc mode (firewire), verbose mode, blocks re-setting PRAM, and prevents a user from holding "option" to select his/her own startup disc.

Not secure enough, NOW!!!!!

I've been to the developer's "web site". I don't think I can trust the machine which holds my most important information to the developer whose web site looks like the one I just saw. Sorry dude but from this perspective you don't project reliability or trust at all.
