PhoneView Reviewbrilliant piece of Software - Version: 2.3.1, 11/9/2009 11:17AM PST

Sofar, I have seen it perform it´s duty in a very promising fashion, I don´t have to care about some .DS_Store files or anything as obstructive in the file-system of my iPhone.

Shame on Apple for disallowing something that was useful from the first iPod onwards, shame on Apple for hiding content and information from their rightful owners. Thank you PhoneView for opening a gap in that walled garden, that our preferred company has invented to maximize their profits.

DRM helps to screw those who pay, while those who don´t haven´t got any problems.

I constantly have space left that is not covered by musinc, only using PhoneView lets me reclaim back that real estate.

PhoneView ReviewAnnoyingly stupid: NO UPDATES! - Version: 2.3, 10/15/2009 09:56AM PST

It seems ridiculously hard to update this software once you bought it. You simply CAN'T download updates from the developer's site, only a demo version which you cannot unlock with your registration code.

So what do you do when a new version comes out (like 2.3 now, which supports voicemail sync)? Well, you're supposed to get an automated email from the developer. This happened to me once (when 2.2.1 came out), but not for any subsequent version. There isn't an update check funcationality within the software, either. I already complained to the developer, who replied by offering to send me another download link. Would I have to go through this each time the app is updated?

So BEWARE of buying this, until the developer fixes this stone age approach to customer service and product support.

PhoneView ReviewWorks For Me ! - Version: 2.1.3, 4/29/2009 09:36AM PST

Two of the most Missed features on my iPhone (were) Call Log and Text -SMS Log . Just for these features I would buy this software , but it has many other cool tricks ! just try it for your self I don't know about the jail broken phones but I've had no problems It does give you access to a lot of inner files and warns you not to mess with them if you don't know what your doing . I don't . So I don't ! You can view your Photos listen to your music , view your contacts . I'm surprised its not more sung ! I say check it out. Peace

PhoneView CommentaryDeveloper is a LIAR: Read this whole comment to see why - Version: 2.1.2, 12/31/2008 04:47PM PST

In my last comment about this app I said that it was a LIE to say that "iPhoneDrive is the only way to use your iPhone to store files." My comment in its entirety said "There are at least FIVE other programs available that enable you to use your iPhone to store files without having to jailbreak the iPhone. If you include apps that DO jailbreak the iPhone, the number rises to probably 15 apps. Here's a free one that allows you to use your iPhone to store files: DiskAid 2.0 (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/10860863). Then there's one of the foremost paid apps, Air Sharing 1.0.3, available for $6.99 on the App Store. Don't trust any company that makes such outlandish claims, especially such easily disproved claims, and especially especially when VersionTracker commenters have been complaining about this lie since at least March 2008 (check out the comments from editor48, irm77, etc.). And by the way, just what the heck IS iPhoneDrive? The app is called PhoneView; and they don't explain what iPhoneDrive is. And they want $19.95 for this? These appear to be scammers.

The developer responded to my accusation that iPhoneDrive is NOT the only way to use your iPhone to store files by saying "True that. Sorry, that info dates back to over a year ago and is of course no longer accurate. I will update the VersionTracker description."

However, the developer has perpetuated his lie AGAIN by making the SAME CLAIM in this new version. It again says "iPhoneDrive is the only way to use your iPhone to store files."

Simply do not trust a scammer like this one.

PhoneView CommentaryCompletely unnecessary - Version: 2.1.1, 12/3/2008 04:53PM PST

With App store apps like AirSharing, TouchFS, FileMagnet... this $20 application is unnecessary. In addition, if you jailbreak your iPhone you can do more and free.

I love the fact that it'll find the iphone with a hardwire connection (I don't know how Apple allowed that...). The fact that it converts PDF's and other docs to the Notes app on the iphone and overlays that awful lined yellow paper. I bought DataCase from the itunes store, it's wifi, but at least it has a real document reader.

Sorry, I thought this was for the MegaPhone application that was my favorite back in OS 8.
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macos/17077

Used to be a way of turning your Mac into a speakerphone, back in the day...
So has the original name/company been abandoned, as "The MegaPhone" company webpage hasnt been taken down yet ?
