Product Description:

Make your QT movies and podcasts accessible! MovCaptioner allows you to add captions to your QT movies and make transcripts of your videos or podcasts as quickly as you can type! MovCaptioner keeps repeating a segment of the movie until you are done typing what you hear. Just hit the Return key and it will save your caption and automatically advance to the next few seconds of the movie, allowing you to zip through your captioning tasks in no time flat. You don't need to be a QuickTime guru, either. The caption track is added automatically with the click of a button. And clicking the Transcript button compiles all the captions into one concise text file. If you can type, you can make your movies accessible! Makes embedded QT text tracks, SMIL captioned movies, Flash CS3 captions, SubRip SRT, SubViewer SUB, Spruce STL, SAMI (Windows Media), and transcripts with either timestamps or in paragraph form. And now, if you already have transcripts of your movie, you can import them into MovCaptioner to set as captions.

What's new in this version:

  • Simpler interface. Output options moved to the Export menu, leaving only Editing buttons under the caption list box
  • You can now add line breaks wherever you want by typing a pipe "|" character (pipe is not displayed in final export)
  • Can now export Spruce STL caption files for use with DVD Studio Pro and other applications
  • Can also import Spruce STL caption files, helpful for captioning alternate languages
  • Separate Embed export for Unicode captioning (Asian script, symbols, etc.)
  • Can export caption text files that can be imported into Adobe Encore
  • Preview button uses QuickTime SMIL to preview captions. No need to close without saving to view partially complete projects
  • Split Caption button now automatically calculates a default timecode between the split caption and the following caption
  • Localized in English and French (German and Italian are still being updated to version 2.0)
  • Free upgrade for previous purchasers, as usual

MovCaptioner CommentarySite Suspended? - Version: 1.5.2, 4/5/2008 08:34AM PST

I tried linking to this site via the various links above but all I get is a message from 'Xinhuanet' stating that it is a Chinese news and information site and there is a 'suspended.page' message in the web browser's address! It looks like this site has been taken down by some Chinese authority! Therefore, I have not been able to try out this promising software.
Does anyone have any information about what is going on here?
