AppTrap ReviewNo problems: very convenient - Version: 1.0.4, 1/11/2008 08:14AM PST

This has worked flawlessly for me. Much more convenient than having to drag the icon to AppZapper or AppDelete since it works regardless of the method you use to trash the application.

AppTrap ReviewDanger, Danger! - Version: 1.0.3, 1/10/2008 09:55PM PST

Beware, This app trashed not only files rendered useless by the removal of their associated applications but also trashed almost all my other preferences as well.
I had to reinstall FCP, OuickTime Pro, rebuild my iTunes list as well as iPhoto, Address Book and Mail. There was no simple way to put everything back from the Trash so it was a backup from late last year.

I had been using AppZapper and liked the way it worked. But I've been using AppTrap for at least 4 months, and it just doesn't suit me. I'm beta testing some software, and every day, when I have a new version auto install, I have to deal with AppTrap's window asking whether to include supporting files as well as the app when it's deleted - the beta software does the proper deleting behind the scenes, I just don't like AppTrap stepping in the taking over. There have been other times when I have manually deleted files, and sometimes I get no feedback from AppTrap (it should ask about deleting supporting files, which there are). I could have sworn that some message posted before mine mentioned that AppTrap can list the files that it will delete, but haven't been able to do that. At least with AppZapper, I have complete control, it gives me a list of all files that it will delete and I can check or uncheck each one. I just like the user control I have with AppZapper; AppTrap does things behind the scenes and I never know what it does.

I realize this is free software, and I thank the software writer for his/her contributions.
This app may well work correctly most of the time, but I prefer better feedback and I'd rather initiate deletes than let an app step in the way and being sure what it does.

Apptrap work GREAT the first time I used it, but today I dropped an application into the trash and nothing. No dialog box. No nothin'! I had to go hunt for related folders and files with spotlight. What a pain! I had high hope that Apptrap would do all that for me. Nope!

AppTrap Reviewmaybe the best - Version: 1.0.3, 8/31/2007 10:51AM PST

I tried it and whereas the other standalone apps fail completetely, AppTrap finds all those %&$$/ - files randomly. It seems that mostly the preference files and application Support files are not as easy found by all those uninstallers.
What about a neat Spotlight - inegration???

maybe the best
