Product Description:

YAI (You Are Invited) is a plug-in for Apple Mail that translates and transfers Outlook, Google Calendar, Zimbra and Exchange clone meeting invitations to iCal. It corrects many incompatibilities between Microsoft Exchange style meeting invites and what iCal can understand.

With YAI installed Exchange style invites received in Mail's inbox are processed as they arrive and are sent to iCal, ready to be acted on. Most invites will appear in iCal's notification pane, but any invites the user sends themselves will be added as an editable event. If there are invites from before YAI was installed, these are easily transferred to iCal by selecting them in Mail and pressing Cmd-Opt-L. They will be processed in exactly the same way as newly received ones.

The incompatibilities YAI fixes include problems with Exchange style invites from different time zones, invites that generate warnings about the recipient not being on your 'me' card and differences in the way event updates are handled that result in error messages in iCal.

What's new in this version:

  • Various options for what happens to the invite emails in Mail.
  • Fix for some invites not being processed due to string coercion bug.
  • 'Home directory is full' bug addressed.
  • Various other bug fixes.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.4 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.4 (Universal)
  • Apple Mail, iCal & Address Book

YAI ReviewFantastic work - Version: 1.2.0, 11/12/2007 10:26PM PST

Dan Warne
Just wanted to say thanks to John for creating such a vital tool in YAI. It's solved a big problem for me -- I'm happily using my Mac in the office even though it's a completely Windows network.

I divert all my Exchange mail to a Google Apps Premium account, which I then download into Mail and my Blackberry (and for that matter my iPhone via IMAP). That works pretty well on the whole, except for calendar invitations -- until John produced YAI, I hadn't been able to parse Outlook invites automatically into iCal. Now it works fine (I'm using a private beta of 1.3.0 which works well with Leopard.)

It's developers like John that create the small finishing touches on OS X that Apple forgets, which is what makes Mac such a great platform. Just wanted you to know your work is much appreciated!

YAI Reviewproblems with Intel Macs - Version: 1.1.0, 9/28/2007 02:05AM PST

It works perfectly on my PowerBook G4, but not on my Intel-MacPro (tool is triggered on incoming Outlook-Invitations, but does not proceed to iCal).
