Now that the linked website and the help file are in English, ToMacs is easy to use. Sorry for the negative reviews, but it's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease.

I hate to be a cultural imperialist, but English is the lingua franca for most of the world. With instructions - at least that's what I assume I'm looking at on the developer's web site - only in French, the potential of this little app is severely constrained. Since ToMacs does not automatically recognize networked volumes or PCs, something must need to be adjusted to make it work. Because the author cannot tell us what that is in a language most of us can understand, his app is useless to a great many potential users. Because he apparently cannot even read these critiques on Version Tracker, he may not even know (assuming he would care if he did know) that he is excluding so many people. This seems odd in that he went to the trouble of having the application's interface translated to English.

ToMacs CommentaryI gave it a try.... - Version: 1.5.4, 3/9/2008 02:20PM PST

But I couldn't get it to work. I mounted my older Mac over a wired network on the desktop of my Mac Pro but ToMacs didn't see it. It said that I needed an SSH connection; when I tried to connect via SSH I got a message saying SSH was not supported. I'm sure there's a way to get ToMacs to work, but if you have to be a networking guru in order to get it there, it kind of defeats the purpose. At this point I'd have to say it's a good idea inadequately realized.
