AppCleaner CommentaryNo updates since before Snow Leopard - Version: 1.2.2, 10/10/2009 10:20PM PST

Makes me a little nervous using a cleaner application which isn't updated after a major OS version upgrade. Here we are quite some time into Snow Leopard and the last AppCleaner update was back in mid-2008. If nothing else, I'd expect to see the developer post a note that the app has no known Snow Leopard issues. Even the AppCleaner web site is totally silent on the issue!

As a result of this deafening developer silence on Snow Leopard compatibility, I deleted AppCleaner and installed AppDelete instead. Now I don't want to insinuate that I think the shareware AppDelete somehow does a more thorough job than the freeware AppCleaner, because I don't know. But I do know I don't want a cleaner application mucking around on my hard drive and trashing associated deleted application files (albeit at my direction) when it hasn't been updated since well before a major OS version number upgrade.

Finds associated files and folders only in the user account and not in the "Main" Library.

The best of its kind. Works as described. I wonder if it's possible to add a feature to detect preference files which are not associated with any application, i.e files of applications where we have deleted the applications (before we had AppCleaner) but forgot to delete their preference files.

I have tried others (AppZapper, AppDelete), and this is the best. Highly recommended.

AppCleaner ReviewWorked Well on Cleaning Out AppZapper - Version: 1.2.2, 8/19/2008 08:35AM PST

This application is far superior to AppZapper so it is only fitting that it be used to rid my drive of the now very useless and dated AppCrapper. Too bad I actually paid for AppCrapper as the money would have been spent on donating to this developer.

AppCleaner provides more opportunities to delete associated files other than going to File Buddy.

Does an amazing job!

The SmartDelete feature is the icing on the cake for me. It runs in the background dormant until you need it, not cluttering my dock or menu bar. Oh and it only uses like 6 Megabytes of RAM when it isnt being used.

An amazing application, and one that I won't be AppClean-ing any time soon ;)

AppCleaner ReviewGreat App! - Version: 1.2, 5/19/2008 06:31AM PST

I have been using AppCleaner for months. It does a much better job than any of its competitors - and seamlessly integrated too.

I forget that it's there until I send something to the trash and see its familiar face pop up asking if I want to delete all of an app's associated files Whew! I would have had this stuff filling up space forever.

AppCleaner knows what's related to an app and where its hidden - in Libraries, Application Support, etc.

Indispensable little tool.

This program does what it promises and it is free. It is more than worth the price. I would have paid for this. I can't believe that I found it. Version Tracker Daily Newsletter does it again!!!!

...things with other names that belong to an app? Lets say you want to get rid of MS Office,
This searches for everything with the name MS OFFICE in it.
Let say MSO ALSO installs files like cs_lock 887837
or entourage_temp. The junk that gets left behind can be substantial at times.
dose this app "know" thru some kind of flags to delete said type files.
