Skim ReviewVery handy - Version: 1.2.7, 10/28/2009 09:28AM PST

Thanks to the people who made this app. I find it very helpful to take notes in pdf's and it saves me from having to print out documents. The ability to export my notes with a link to the pdf document is really handy. It would be nice if the notes didn't have to reside in the same folder as the document but an alias of the notes takes care of that. Would definitely recommend this.

Skim Commentary1.3.1 for 10.5 or higher - Version: 1.3.1, 10/16/2009 02:46PM PST

Contrary to Version Tracker saying 1.3.1 works on 10.4 it doesn't. It's for 10.5 of higher only

Skim ReviewStill the best PDF-reader around! - Version: 1.2.6, 9/1/2009 12:24PM PST

In spite of the new features of Preview in 10.6, some of which must have been inspired by Skim,
Skim is and remains by far the superior PDF-reader around!
And in distinction from the new Preview (which crashed twice in the 18 hours I have it),
Skim never crashes, dutifully updates itself and reopens where you left off.
It is not only for scientific papers!

Skim ReviewVersion Tracker behind the curve? - Version: 1.2.1, 2/4/2009 04:42AM PST

Skim is a superb little freeware app for marking up pdfs. I'm finding it indispensable to my work as an editor. If only I could manipulate the type style within the notes . . .

However, I found this morning that my Version Tracker Pro "Available Updates" list is reporting one release version behind the one posted here, on the Skim website, and on the app's "New Software" list! Is this a bug?

I've been using skim for quite some time now and I'm perfectly happy with it. It replaces preview for me completely. Here are some suggestions, though, which I personally would like to see:
1. it would be nice to have some preference settings which opens all documents with some default zoom
2. Something like the Safari history menu item would be great (with items 'earlier today','yesterday' etc) - probably very helpful for those who work with lots of pdfs every day
3. When I'm working with many documents opened at the same time, it would be nice to have tabs, and some hotkeys to jump between tabs/windows

Please continue the excellent work!

Skim CommentaryWas a great app....until Leopard released new version of Preview - Version: 1.1.13, 10/7/2008 12:30PM PST

The new version of Preview in Leopard (Mac OS 10.5) does many of the things that Skim was created to do, so I no longer need Skim.

I have tried many free PDF form apps, none do what this does. And it saves correctly. I tried FormulatePro.app and Filler.App and neither saved pdfs correctly.

It is a great complement to FormulatePro which I have been using in order to complete PDF forms in an editable way. It is much more powerful and allows you not only to add notes but as well to edit minor things and really make the PDF of someone else yours, which is cool for presentations made by someone else.
