Final Cut Pro 4 is the creative, professional and extensible tool for editing and finishing in SD and HD formats.

What's new in this version:

Provides performance improvements and enhancements in several key areas. It also resolves some rare instances in which the application would stop responding.

Opening and closing the Trim Edit window

Opening clips with speed changes in the Viewer

Editing Enhancements

Using match-frame to original media file is improved when working with clips and sub-clips.

Using match-frame against split edits and speed adjusted clips now produces the expected results.

Issues with marking track gaps have been addressed.

Overall responsiveness when trimming has been improved.

Effects Updates

When Range Checking is on, video in the Canvas will update.

Play Every Frame will now play out via FireWire.

Source timecode is maintained on clips with speed changes.

Text generators use the appropriate typeface for the selected font.

The position of filter keyframes is maintained when using the Media Manager on clips with speed changes.

Audio Improvements

Print to Video and Edit to Tape will maintain audio transitions.

32kHz audio capture functions properly.

24p sequences now playback accurately with audio.

General Application

Final Cut Pro 4.0.1 includes support for French, German, and Japanese localizations.

Media Management issues when dealing with composited effects have been resolved.

Improved detection of timecode breaks for many cameras (including the Canon XL-1).

F2 key logs clips while in text window.

Addresses an issue in which sorting by reel may not operate correctly.

Addresses an issue in which iMovie 3.0.3 projects may not import correctly.

Playback performance has been improved and functionality issues resolved when the Hand and Zoom tools are used.

Slight image quality improvements to the uncompressed codecs.

Compressor

Address an issue in which "Submit" button may not activate properly.

Following my original feedback- I have discovered the solution - If you are unable to upgrade to version 5.1.3 using automatig updater tool - do foolowing: go to Apple website --Mac OSX--Downloads--select Apple downloads--Final Cut Pro 5.1.3--log in under user name and enter the serial number of your software -- download 5.1.3 upgrade file which DOES INSTALL without any problems.
Apple must have posted damaged or faulty file on server which is accessed by automatic Software Update tool.

Automatic Software Updater recognises that Final Cut Pro 5.1.3 is required , ( to update existing version 5.1.2) but when the .pkg file is dowloded, it can not be insalled . Tried several ways, but they all fail. What is going on?!

So i bought a mac book and I want to get final cut studio 5.1 but I cant because of the graphic card. is this because of motion 2 it just cant handle it or is it every program in the package that will not work? I dont know what to do!
