Paintbrush - Mac OS X Maybe OK for some but leaves something to be desired. I have been at this long enough to have used MacPaint and also MS Paint the poor copy cat. Yes I agree Paintbrush - Mac OS X can compare to MS paint but Still needs to go a way yet to be comparable to MacPaint. Currently I use the paint portion of AppleWorks 6 and it meets my needs. Although some of its functionality has been lost when used on 10.5 Intel machine. As for me it is still better than what is being offered here, with Paintbrush - Mac OS X. But credit must be given this is after all Freeware. Standing on its own I would rate it a 2.5. good for those who have nothing else.

Although it saves PNG images, it doesn't save them transparent.

Paintbrush ReviewWhere's the Paintbrush? - Version: 1.1, 6/23/2008 07:45PM PST

This program seems to be poorly named. The drawing tools are a pencil and boxes. No brush tool at all, or maybe I missed it in the simple menu's? There's no help feature, but the program seems pretty simple.

I was looking for an application replacement for a new PC convert. She uses MS Paint on a PC so I took a look at this program. Doesn't work for her.

Paintbrush Commentaryvery handy, mostly reliable - Version: 1.0, 11/23/2007 09:00PM PST

I use this little program a fair amount and I like it a lot. It is very handy for touching up images directly, pixel by pixel, for example. But I have to say, it is a little buggy around the edges. It never crashes outright. It just doesn't run smoothly in a lot of circumstances. For example, if you switch from 100% to 1600%, or any other magnification, the scroll bars jump to the start position and you have to find your place in the picture all over again, by trial and error. It would also be nice if it were possible to identify and capture colors from inside the program.

I say this only because it seems like a program well worth perfecting.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Did I say THANK YOU! This app is soooo missing from my OS X 10!!!

I'd just like a little better control over the sizing for the lines and circles. I'd like a little thicker line than the 'zero' setting.

Otherwise - thank you, thank you, thank you!

This is very decent software. Just last night I was drawing black-and-white cartoons in Photoshop Elements 3... which is akin to picking up the milk in an ocean liner. Today, Paintbrush is in my dock, and it is going to stay there. It is neat software. It loads instantly (on a G4 Powerbook) and does exactly what it is supposed to, which is provide pixel pushing on screen quickly and without any hassles and without the planetload of hoops that the "big boys" make you jump through before you can start scribbling.

She has been using Microsoft Paint in Virtual PC (!) on her Mac. This is exactly what she has been looking for. Many thanks to the developer.
