Product Description:

Paintbrush is a Cocoa-based paint program for Mac OS X, similar to Microsoft Paint and the now-defunct MacPaint. The project's ultimate goal is to recreate the basic functionality of Microsoft Paint, which has been noticeably absent from Mac OS X for years. Paintbrush can open and save to most major image formats, including BMP, PNG, JPEG, and GIF.

What's new in this version:

Paintbrush 2.0.1 has just been released, incorporating a handful of minor bug fixes. Specifically, the text tool's antialiasing has been improved, and a small glitch with the new color selectors has been resolved. As this is only a bug-fixing update, no features have been added, and no major tweaks have been made.

Paintbrush - Mac OS X Maybe OK for some but leaves something to be desired. I have been at this long enough to have used MacPaint and also MS Paint the poor copy cat. Yes I agree Paintbrush - Mac OS X can compare to MS paint but Still needs to go a way yet to be comparable to MacPaint. Currently I use the paint portion of AppleWorks 6 and it meets my needs. Although some of its functionality has been lost when used on 10.5 Intel machine. As for me it is still better than what is being offered here, with Paintbrush - Mac OS X. But credit must be given this is after all Freeware. Standing on its own I would rate it a 2.5. good for those who have nothing else.

Although it saves PNG images, it doesn't save them transparent.
