I hate it when devs do this. What is new in 1.4.3? Why should we update?? No mention of this info here or on the devs site.

WiFind ReviewKNOW before you complain - Version: 1.4.3, 10/14/2008 06:36PM PST

To those folks who are slagging the developer, get a life.

1. The submenu change in Leopard is due to Apple and out of the hands of the developer. *censored* at Apple if you don't like it. Apple has made menu items a moving target for developers.

2. About their reliability. I have nothing but good experiences. Bought the product over a year ago. Worked fine. Recently came across the app again and decided to install for Leopard. Needed to get my reg code again, emailed and it showed up within an hour.

It's also my understanding that RealLife® took the developer off the map briefly - it happens. Doesn't mean that they're a rip-off operation. Overall, it's a handy application to have for mobile road-warriors.

The Cow gives it a thumbs up!

Developer took my money, accused me of having a defective computer and refused to give refund. Beware very wary of this guy.

WiFind CommentaryWorks, but ... - Version: 1.4.3, 6/13/2008 10:14PM PST

Developers should update the screenshot of the product. In 10.5.X, the WiFind 'pretty' icons and added information do not appear in the top level Airport menu. There is a WiFind submenu that you have to go into. It works, but it would be so much better if there was no submenu and the info could all show up in the menu Airport menu, like I assume it does in 10.4.x.

Developers, please figure out how to get this back into the menu Airport menu.

Apple threw us a curve ball (again) :-(

The latest build (v1.4.3) again works with 10.5.3.

Let me know if you guys have any more issues.

It does not appear to work with 10.5.3 per a splash screen from the SIMBL program.

I have been using WiFind for quite some time now after reading about it in Macworld. I have to say that it has worked exactly as stated and absolutely no problems at all. You have a quick, colored and informative display as to what networks are available, signal strength, and if they are locked (colored red) or not (green).

I had lost my serial due to a crashed hard drive and Tim (I believe the mastermind behind this crafty little application) got right back to me with technical assistance and help.

I highly recommend WiFind!

WiFind ReviewA very useful addition under Leopard 10.5.2 - Version: 1.4.2, 5/6/2008 11:38AM PST

I have been using this product for about two years under Tiger and now Leopard and have been very happy with it. It has the convenience of having all of the information available at a glance under the Airport menu and does so in a clean, easy to see manner. The author has given much thought to how to take a lot of info to display under a menu item and organize it well using color, menu hierarchies and only showing what is necessary.

The only drawback under Leopard is that, instead of showing all of the great features I describe above, you have to hold the option key while clicking the airport menu to see the extra details about the WiFi sources like signal strength, channel, RSSI, address and transmit rate. To see the well organized and colorized WiFi list and details you have to go down to the last option 'WiFi' (at first it says WiFi Scanning..) and it will fold out automatically. I like the fact that it gives you an image showing the strength of the signal as well as a number on the otherside and uses red and green to differentiate open and closed networks.
It looks like with 10.5, every time you open up the airport menu it scans for new signals and so WiFi Finder does the same. After a few seconds it makes the color list available to fold out. In future versions I hope to see that fold out menu up at the top for easier access.
Overall, I think that this is a very useful app and definitely worth $8. It seems to run well under 10.5

WiFind ReviewWorks Great for me in Tiger - Version: 1.4.2, 3/25/2008 05:10PM PST

MacBook Pro, Intel with 10.4.11, great menu enhancer for $8. Especially nice if you are out and about and need to find an accessible (free) wireless connection and don't want to keep trying until you hit an unencrypted one. This shows which ones are encrypted and how, as well as gives signal strength. The drop down menu sometimes "sticks" on me, which has been slightly annoying, but not a serious obstacle. The licensing method could be streamlined, I'd rather just be emailed a serial number after submitting payment. An initial issue I had with registration was responded to within a half a day in a very friendly and polite way.
