SiriusMac CommentaryGood But Needs Work - Version: 2.2, 5/19/2008 05:52AM PST

I think this is really good. Been using it a while now, but noticed the tracker doesn't work right on the last 2 versions. For example: It keeps showing Let The Good Times Roll by Shirley & Lee as the current song (for the last week!), when of course, the songs keep changing. I like having 20 channels to choose from although I only use about 10 of them on a regular basis. The sound is good. Just get this bug worked out and I'll have no complaints!

SiriusMac ReviewA little wobblier than 2.0 - Version: 2.1, 4/12/2008 12:37PM PST

SM appears to work by invoking/controlling "MPlayer," an app built into the SM bundle. With 2.1, quitting SM gives me a popup about some missing AppleScript variable, and MPlayer continues to run -- "headlessly," you might say -- and killing it thru Activity Monitor appears to be the only way to stop the music.

This same hidden function appears to be the reason why Airfoil can't pick music only from SiriusMac... SM isn't actually playing any music! BTW, the LATEST Airfoil does work on the first try with the system audio. Users with any oddball audio setups (like mine!) may likewise have difficulty finding the SM output.

The interface has been ... uh, idiosyncratic, to say the least, and I haven't figured out the latest incarnation yet. But I hope that we'll see a 2.1a and subsequent versions that turn their energy towards a rock-solid internal structure before more revamps to the interface.

Still, the convenience of SM easily outweighs the drawbacks when compared to running WMP thru a browser. The browser package has occasionally hung with a "still listening?" popup while I was in the middle of the Met Opera (channel 84?) and other indignities.

I have tried everything and still get no sound at all. (Yes, my volume is up!)

Can not recommend this version.
