Ensemble2 CommentaryGreat RSS reader, but ... - Version: 0.6.0, 1/24/2008 12:00AM PST

Note about myself: i'm somewhat a power user only just investigating RSS to help provide that occasional distraction to break the day's monotony.

The layout and ease of use of the this product is great. For pure reading, I'd recommend it for everyone. I've noticed the selection of entries is sometimes hit and miss (you'd think a single-click would show you the content but it seems a second click is required .. might be from latency in the network).

The only thing i could see change is the content viewing. If i select for Ensemble to display the content, instead of a web browser, i'd assume every selection within the content pane, that would normally remain in a browser page, would remain within the content pane.

Beyond those two small things, this seems like a great product. As soon as the yen drops down some and i've got spare cash, i'll "purchase" the product (or at least pay for a couple of sakes :D).

Ensemble2 CommentaryThere should be HUGE Amounts of downloads of this RSS Reader - Version: 0.5.1, 5/9/2007 07:21AM PST

I don't know why there aren't substanial numbers of downloads for this RSS reader. Believe me I have paid for NetNewsWire and I have Vienna as well as MInews and Newsfire and NewsOwl but THIS ONE beats them all in speed, accuracy and FEATURES. I also have Shrook and have supported it but there is NO COMPARISON to this one!

I have tried them all! Too dam many times. I've even paid for NetNewsWire. I have even tracked down the hacked Vienna that has a toolbar. But this E2 is fast, stable, & highly customizeable. It even allows for 4 panes should you have a huge screen.

Even though I give it 1 star for "Poor" for no documentation, I'd give it at least 6 stars for features, so 5 stars it is.

Ensemble2 Troubleshooting ReportHere is a tip for the best performance of this version. - Version: 0.5, 4/25/2007 06:56AM PST

If you have Vienna or NetNewsWire do NOT use the data app that is suggested by this app to import your old RSS feeds. Instead say NO to the request and use the Default listed on the window by exporting your feeds from Vienna or NetNewswire in OPL. Then on update choose the update that saysupdate window otherwise it will keep asking if you want this or that feed included and you will have to sit there waiting while the app asks you and holds up the updating. After the initial update you can use the button in the menu to update and it wuill no longer belabor you with asking if you want some feed included. The more I use this RSS newsreader the more I like it. I prefer Ariel Black for all the fonts making everything easy to read.
