I am now able to load the app without crashing and you can select "Start Using Cha-Ching" on the Welcome screen. However, although it is quite intuitive, the "Start with Example Database" on the Welcome screen is greyed out.

I have a MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. I am using Mac Os 10.5.7. I can't even try this app as it crashes when I double-click on the icon.

I have a license and have tried this now and then. This version seems damaged or something. Could just be me, but I don't usually have this happen.
Pretty but shallow...

I really wanted to like this, especially since it now has an iPhone companion to sync with. Unfortunately, while it looks quite pretty and polished, it is also pretty much lacking in some very basic areas. For example, Cha-Ching doesn't allow you to set up your accounts with any overdraft limits, so the "Available Balance" is always wrong. Maybe the developers are so rich that they have no experience of overdrafts, I don't know, but this alone kills it for me.

Do not waste your money on this application. Developer rarely updates application, claims to be working on version 2 so he can screw those who purchased version one with an upgrade fee.
I had high hopes for Cha-Ching but I am very disappointed with the progress of this software. Check around the Internet I am not the only disappointed customer.
There are many other applications that have are active in developing their software. Try iBank 3.0, I found it to be the best of the personal financial applications.

MacUser Review Coming in Vol. 24 No.9 - Version: 1.2.3, 4/20/2008 02:31PM PST

I see that a MacUser UK reviewer will be looking at this app. in Vol. 24 No. 9 due out on 25th April 2008. I'd be happy to use the software if some of issues highlighted below are sorted e.g. CSV ("quick and easy" to fix), drag and drop arranging etc. This is a very promising piece of software and perhaps a high-profile review from MacUser might encourage the developer to 'fix' some of these issues. (MacUser also reviewed iBank v3.0 in Vol.24 No.8, which can use the CSV format, and awarded it a four mice rating)

From the dev's blog:
- Sorting by Tags now added to Print panel
- Fixed Macheist Registration Issues
- QIF notes are now imported

I initially used Cha-Ching on a trial basis and then acquired a license via MacHeist.
Of all the capabilities built into the program, the one that is lacking and which prevents the program from being useful to me is import of files in CSV or tab-delimited format.
Cha-Ching support QIF/QFX file import, as do most of its competitors; however, contrary to popular belief, some stoggy old financial institutions do NOT make data available to customers in those formats. SOME instititutons are still using CSV format.
Additionally, for whatever reasons a user might have for creating their own CSV files for import, the need exists.
Being a programmer myself, I know how quick and easy it is to add CSV import to any product that uses an underlying database.
Cha-Ching has been around a while and has gone through numerous releases; and the developers were made aware of the need for CSV import. The fact that they haven't added support for CSV import makes the product useless to me and probably less attractive to many others.
I surely hope to see this deficit corrected before too many more releases of the software.

Works well, but could use additional basic features

I like this software, and have been using it faithfully since the first version. I currently have 2 checking accounts, 4 savings accounts, 1 LOC & 7 credit cards, and it manages them all pretty flawlessly. There are bugs I have noticed though - the one most prominent is that when you 'pay' a upcoming transaction, it sometimes creates two instances of the transaction for the same date. Not always.
My biggest gripe is that I wish the accounts panel supported drag and drop arranging. It's stuck on alphabetical, so I've had to become creative in my naming in order to keep certain types of accounts together.

Pretty good program but need's some work

I have been using this full time daily for my check register for my 2 checking accounts and 1 savings for the past 4 weeks. It has a great user interface and have yet to come across any bugs (or at least any that I notice.) I have e-mailed the developer with a couple feature requests (such as choosing which account to display when the program opens, available balance under the account name on the left drawer) but have not gotten any kind of response. I know those are small requests but I think it would make a large difference.
