Product Description:

Raw Photo Processor (RPP) is a RAW converter, supporting almost all available digital RAW formats. Think of it as of a development machine in terms of film photography - first you have to develop your roll right, then do whatever you want with it. So this is NOT a full featured photo processing package, you will need Photoshop or some other tool to apply sharpness, cropping and so on, but you may use RPP for some very carefully picked amount of operations.

The main idea behind this application is to do quality conversion without blocking shadows, clipping highlights, spoiling colors and returning that natural film-like look to your pictures.

What's new in this version:

  • Added "Compressed Exposure" control to avoid highlights clipping during exposure adjustments - they are getting compressed within specified range instead. See "Compressed Exposure Correction" chapter.
  • Bugfixes.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.5 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.5 PPC
  • Mac OS X 10.4 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC

Additional Requirements:

  • None

Raw Photo Processor Reviewonly a first glance, but this is what I needed... - Version: 3.6.4, 11/23/2007 07:44AM PST

Please be aware that these ratings are based upon a very short time with this product. That disclaimer aside, here are my thoughts:
As I have seen commented elsewhere, the Fuji image converter for it's .raf files @#&*'s (i.e., is not particularly useful). I downloaded this software for a very specific reasons: to see if it could upload fuji's version of RAW images, manipulate them with whatever tools are provided and convert them to jpeg. What can I say but "it works!"
I'm pretty excited to explore RPP's possibilities, but the fact that I now have photo's to work with on a computer that, without the software, would not be able to read them is very, very satisfying.
I hope all the fuji users who have been frustrated in the same way I have will find their way to RPP.
Thanks very much.
Jim
PS I've notices that my e900's controls, like zoom and scan are much faster when shooting in RAW. However, before finding this software, it made no sense to do so, because I couldn't do anything with the files.

Raw Photo Processor CommentaryBest results of all - Version: 3.6.0, 8/13/2007 05:15AM PST

At the moment Raw Photo Processor produces the best results out of the box (colors and tonality), compared to Preview/OS X, Rawker, GraphicConverter, yes, and the lightning-fast and fabulous RawDeveloper. I´m using it for very critical pre-photoshopping. All I´m missing at the moment is a kind of gamma-adjustment (additional to Brightness/Contrast). Speed could be increased by using all processors (especially on elder G4-MPs) and EXIF-data (especially CRWs focal length) should be included the tiff/jpeg-files. But nevertheless a great piece of software. So where can be donated?

This is a very fast application, extremely smooth, and it seems to offer a nice conversion — I've only played with it a bit, so I haven't compared it in detail to other solutions.
What it does offer is a very, very comprehensive EXIF data, including circle of confusion, hyper-focal distance, and other things I've never seen in image data before (but am glad to have).
Additionally, it offers a number of refinements to raw conversion — again, more than I have ever seen in another application. They are rather technical, and this app gives the impression that it is getting 'under the hood' rather more than, say, dXo, Photoshop ACR or Nikon View.
