Product Description:

Naiocast Mediation Server

Make Rogue Amoeba's Nicecast working over firewall and NAT

*Naiocast is a freeware software written in perl for Mac OS X 10.4, v1.6 created by THEARTOFWEB - http://www.theartofweb.net - theartofweb@hotmail.com

*Naiocast enables live transmission of audio mp3 data.

*You can set up your web radio even if your network is behind all sorts of routers/proxies and the rest of that sort.

*You can transmit and/or listen in that network environment, business typical, in which there is a blocking firewall that disable all but web traffic, so no streaming is possible.

*Naiocast grabs live audio data from Nicecast (broadcasting locally) and makes a POST HTTP connection to your web server. People connect with RealPlayer or iTunes or WinAmp to your web server in order to listen to your live streaming radio.

*In order to run naiocast your *nix (Linux, Freebsd, etc) web server must support perl scripts

*Upload _naiocast folder to your web server in the root directory in ascii mode (pure text). Set "mediator.pl" and "nph-reader.pl" and "stats.pl" to chmod 755.

*Check naiocast on your server with your browser (http://www.yoursite.suffix/_naiocast/mediator.pl) it must says: "Naiocast Mediation Server"

*Launch Rogue Amoeba's Nicecast and start broadcasting by pressing START.

*Edit Naiocast's HOST.TXT file. (http://www.yoursite.suffix/)

*Launch Naiocast. (check /tmp/naiocast.log)

*Naiocast is faceless app, when you want to shut it down copy and paste the following line on your unix terminal: pid=$(cat /tmp/naiocast.pid); kill -9 $pid

*You can reach your web stream at this address: "http://www.yoursite.suffix/_naiocast/nph-reader.pl" or you can edit LISTEN.RAM and/or LISTEN.PLS in order to reach your Radio either with RealPlayer or iTunes.

I will review the app after I use it, but I would like to acknowledge the author for creating a solution to listening to Nicecast behind a corporate firewall.

THEARTOFWEB (THEARTOFWEB)
I'm going to try and tell you how to go about getting Naiocast working...although English is not my native language:

1: set the "host.txt" file: suppose your site address is "http://www.google.com" just put "google.com" on "host.txt".

2: Upload "_naiocast" folder to you web server in ascii mode (pure text). then set "source.pl" and "reader.pl" to chmod 755.

3: Start Nicecast and start broadcasting by pressing START.

4: Start Naiocast (now Naiocast is uploading audio data to "source.pl" on your webserver on port 80 by using http POST method).

5: again, suppose you website address is "http://www.google.com" you can reach your web stream here: "http://www.google.com/_naiocast/reader.pl".

6: Itunes (open stream) and RealPlayer work well I don't know about other players...(they work fine with 112kb stream...I have experienced some "stream buffering" with 128kb stream...but that may be because of my web server bandwith...)

7: Naiocast is faceless app, when you want to shut it down double click on "Naiocast_stop".
