Clover Diary ReviewExcellentGreat! - Version: 2.7.0, 10/28/2009 03:59PM PST

Hey ive recently been using clover and i find it great!

I'd like to personally thank whoever made this as it has really helped me remember things that have happend. I love the fact that it has password protection as i often have friends using my Mac,

The wether and mood feature is brilliant, although i wish there were more mood icons!
also some kind of button which allows you to add a photograph would be great! and perhaps give it a border?! theese are just ideas. i understand some people may want it simple but i think this would be great!

at the moment when i try to add a picture it just comes up huge with no option to reduce the size. anyway as 2.7 is the first version i have used i look forward to the update!!

I have been using this software every day for a couple of years and I love it. Its simple but does just what it says on the box. You can type your thoughts, choose an icon to select you mood and the weather (I love this) and add photos and hyperlinks.

Its certainly not as fancy as some of the other programmes, but they tend to be expensive. I have used this in two machines - a 2001 iBook running Tiger and a 2008 Macbook Pro running Leopard. I have never had any problems with it. If I set it not to automatically open, it doesn't so I can only assume the user suffering from this has other system problems.

The developer has been very helpful and has even made some little customizations for me (I didn't like the pink application icon and he now provides a selection of colours) and he has recently fixed an issue I was having with export.

If you want a simple (and free) diary give this a go. You have nothing to lose and lots to gain :)

Clover Diary ReviewIncredibly Annoying Non-Standard Behavior - Version: 2.5, 7/12/2009 10:13PM PST

Beware! You better know how to edit a crontab file. Clover Diary starts itself and restarts itself whether you like it or not. Clover Diary places an entry in /var/cron/tabs/username the first time it runs. The cron entry then restarts Clover Diary at regular intervals. If you remove the cron entry (use "crontab -e"), it gets replaced the next time you start Clover Diary. The standard OS X controls for startup items (right click on Clover Diary in the menu bar, and check or uncheck "Open at Login," or set login items in System Preferences - Accounts) are completely ignored. Incredibly annoying.
