Product Description:

VMware Fusion is the easiest, most complete way to run Windows and PC-compatible operating systems side-by-side with Mac OS X. Maximize the full power of your Mac including 64-bit and multi-core processor support for maximum performance, accelerated 3D graphics to play DirectX 8.1 games, and use the latest USB 2.0 devices including Windows-only USB peripherals.

What's new in this version:

  • Enhanced Unity feature: Say goodbye to the Start Menu. €”VMware Fusion lets you run Windows applications like Mac applications. This release includes numerous improvements and bug fixes to make Unity even better, including drag and drop, a convenient new Applications Menu that lets you launch all Windows application from the Dock, and experimental support for Unity on Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows 2000 and Windows Server 2003.
  • Better Mac integration: Any way you use your virtual machines (even in full screen), Command-Tab, Exposé, and your favorite keyboard shortcuts like Control-Space for Quicksilver and LaunchBar now work just the way you would expect. Need to right-click? Just use Control-Click like you would with any Mac application.
  • Enhanced Boot Camp performance: Already using Apple’s Boot Camp? VMware Fusion gives you the flexibility of running the same Windows XP install natively or as a virtual machine. This Release Candidate improves disk performance so you can launch applications faster and reduce the time it takes to start/boot a virtual machine.
  • Better support for Mac OS X Leopard: VMware Fusion has improved experimental support for running your favorite virtual machines on Mac OS X Leopard.
  • Experimental 3D support for MacBook and Mac Mini: The release restores experimental 3D support to Macs with Intel GMA 950 integrated graphics cards.
  • Improved USB compatibility: Beta 4.1 and the Release Candidate restore USB compatibility with Santa Rosa-based MacBook Pros and Mac OS X 10.4.10.

VMware Fusion CommentaryLatest VMware Fusion - Version: 3.0, 11/21/2009 05:07AM PST

heikot
I've loved versions 1-2 of this virtual machine software. Windows ran with blazing speed, all apps ran as expected and network drives/folders were accessible without issue. Well, all of this has changed with 3.0. Startup times are reminiscent of running Virtual PC - we all know what a disaster that was. I've lost connectivity to all of my network folders and some programs simply won't run. The overall system responsiveness is horrible. I would return this product in an instant, but as others have commented, finding where to get technical assistance or customer service is virtually impossible. I'm going to switch back to version 2 until VMware fusion 3 is stable, responsive and doesn't cause me more post-traumatic stress.

VMware Fusion Troubleshooting ReportBreaks Print Spooler in Boot Camp - Version: 3.0, 11/8/2009 01:57AM PST

In Windows 7 64 Bit when I installed fusion 3.0 tools and then booted back into Boot Camp (to play a game & work site webmail) i discovered after installed the VMware Tools into Windows 7 the Print Spooler would not start, so I couldn't print the only fix was to go back into Snow Leopard and run Fusion, deinstalling the VMware tools (when finished with Fusion) to natively boot into Windows 7. I sure hope VMware fixes this Print Spooler issue.
