The French that I heard today isn't remotely close. It's probably a computer voice, pronouncing according to the rules of American English. Not useful at all.
it does not open - Version: 1.2, 6/8/2007 11:08AM PST

System requirements are mac os 10.3 and active internet connection. I have both (10.3.9 and DSL connection), and FLNewsBrowser suddenly closes when i try open it.

Careful when using the 'adjust speed' on the playback (top right hand corner)--- it's a really useful tool for slowing things down, but if you overdo it, the voice quality becomes a little strange.
Don't get confused, like the poster below, and assume that it's a machine reading the text--- you can find the exact same newscasts on the NHK site i.e. French at www.nhk.or.jp/french and korean at www.nhk.or.jp/korean etc....
The beauty of this app is that it takes a free online resource, and makes it just that more accessible...
