FLNewsBrowser ReviewNHK world uses real people... - Version: 1.3.2, 5/9/2009 07:52PM PST

wsmt
Happy to see this application get updated because NHK changed the format of their website last year, and the reorganization rendered the previous version unworkable (it looked like NHK had changed the names/paths for the sound and text feeds).

Careful when using the 'adjust speed' on the playback (top right hand corner)--- it's a really useful tool for slowing things down, but if you overdo it, the voice quality becomes a little strange.

Don't get confused, like the poster below, and assume that it's a machine reading the text--- you can find the exact same newscasts on the NHK site i.e. French at www.nhk.or.jp/french and korean at www.nhk.or.jp/korean etc....

The beauty of this app is that it takes a free online resource, and makes it just that more accessible...

FLNewsBrowser ReviewThe French is definitely not a native speaker - Version: 1.3.2, 5/9/2009 05:56AM PST

The French that I heard today isn't remotely close. It's probably a computer voice, pronouncing according to the rules of American English. Not useful at all.
