POI Loader now works just fine - Version: 2.0.2.1 Beta, 10/13/2007 07:26PM PST

Garmin POI Loader now works just fine. Having trashed the "plist" resource and version 2.0.2.0 beta software, the new version launched perfectly. I was able to trashed useless POI I uloaded for a previous trip. My configuration is Garmin Nuvi 670 with iMac 24" and MacOS 10.4.6
Finally up to par with PC version

This beta works as advertised can download manual speed and proximity alerts, and will upload a POI.gpi file. This POI Loader is finally equivalent to the PC version. I would like to see some feedback during the download process to know what is happening. If Continue button clicked a second time during download the app will quit at the end of the download (but the download is successful).
Worked Perfectly

I used this beta to delete older Custom POIs and then load a replacement set of Custom POIs. Everything worked absolutely fine!

Doesn't even launch - Version: 2.0.2.0 Beta, 10/10/2007 05:05AM PST

I could not get this version to launch. It is also not shown to be available when the Garmin site is searched. It looks like we must wait longer for a more PC-equivalent version.

As far as I can see, there is - in opposite to the PC-version - no option to remove previously installed POIs.
Hopefully this will be implemented soon.

Works great with my Streetpilot c330. It was a simple process:
1. Download some POI files (I got them from poi-factory.com) and put them in a common folder
2. Connect your GPS to your Mac and turn it on
3. Fire up the POI Loader and point it at the folder you put the .gpx and .csv POI files in.
4. Click the button to upload them to the GPS (make sure your units of measurement are correct).
5. Voila!
I had no compatibility problems, unlike some of the previous commentators. I've been waiting for this program for about two years, and I'm glad it's finally here, and working.

It works fine but, there is still a bug with the mph/kph conversion.
When you load POI with a proximity alert and want to set a speed limit to trigger the alert, the value you enter (or the automatically set value if you are not using the "Manual" mode) is understood as mph even if you have choosen "Meters and km/h" in the UI.
So it you enter a POI with a speed limit of 110 km/h it will be stored in the Gramin device with the value 177 km/h. (110 mph)
Same thing for the distance trigger for proximity alerts, which seems to be the speed times 10.
So a speed limit of 110km/h will be stored as 177km/h and/or 1770m distance alert.
If soemebody knows how to contact Garmin mac dev team, the support page of their website is not working and it is not possible to send them an email throug the site.
Tip: Once the 2.0.2.1 beta is installed on you machine, you cannot rollback to the official version (2.0.1) because "a newest version of the software is already installed"
But with Pacifist you will be able to extract the POI Loader App from the installer and replace this beta version
