Um, this is just an Automator workflow wrapped in an application bundle. It does essentially the same thing as the "Create Archive of . . ." command int the Finder. The only difference is that it asks you for "save as" name for the archive.
The Automator workflow is two steps, get Finder selection and create archive. I suppose for someone who doesn't know anything about Automator and doesn't want to use the Finder's built-in features, this may be useful. Otherwise . ..
