Product Description:

Twitterrific is a fun little application that lets you both read and publish posts or "tweets" to the Twitter community website. The application's user interface is clean, concise and designed to take up a minimum of real estate on your Mac's desktop.

To get started, visit the Twitter home page to sign up for an account for use with Twitterrific. Twitter accounts are free, take only minutes to set up and are a great way to stay connected with people around the globe.

What's new in this version:

  • Tweets can be displayed inline. Use the "Expand all tweets in list" option in the configuration panel to set this display mode.
  • The text entry area can be resized. Just grab the knob between the text field and the tweet list and drag it.
  • Added a scrollbar to the list of tweets.
  • Tweets now maintain true read/unread states.
  • The main window snaps to the edge of the screen.
  • Tweets can be marked as a favorite by clicking on the tweet's heart icon.
  • Twitterrific can now be configured to behave as a standard Dock application. After placing a checkmark for "Show an icon", restart and you'll have a Dock icon.
  • Updated to use a quicker Twitter API when refreshing the tweets. This new API places less load on the Twitter servers when there are no new tweets from your friends.
  • Spelling misteaks are highlighted as tweets are entered.
  • Added Cmd-2 to send a response to the author of the selected tweet.
  • Added Cmd-D to send a direct message to the author of the selected tweet.
  • Added new notification sounds and the ability to select them randomly.
  • Holding down the Option key while clicking on the "t" icon loads the "with friends" page at Twitter. You can also get this page by double-clicking on the tweet.
  • New menubar icon.
  • Added a new progress indicator. The new indicator is easier to see and will display a yellow triangle when there have been connection problems.
  • Twitterrific can now update your iChat/Adium/Skype status using your last tweet. Select the "Update chat status" preference in the configuration panel and the status in all running chat applications will be updated.
  • Added tooltip for tweet text that shows when it was posted.
  • Added Quit and Configure buttons during startup.
  • The text of the tweet is no longer truncated. The size of the tweet view adapts to the length of the tweet.
  • The text insertion point and text field selection color are more readable.
  • URL connections will no longer overlap causing refresh and posting problems.
  • Improved checks and importing of XML data that is returned by Twitter.
  • Fixed a memory allocation bug that could cause random crashes while sending or receiving tweets.
  • Fixed a network connection bug that would cause refresh or posting to stop working.

Twitterrific CommentaryAs horrible with security as twitter itself. - Version: 3.1, 1/23/2009 06:08AM PST

If you're a casual user of online services (which twitter users often are), do not use this. It's a software you have to pay for, which in its default configuration sends your twitter password over the wire in PLAINTEXT which means every schoolboy with a laptop can sniff your twitter password in a public hotspot. Without manual command line configuration (hey! this is mac, not linux) you can't change this insecure behavior, which is not acceptable in 2009. A new software where this should have been fixed has not been published in almost a year. In the light of recent twitter "password problems" I would actually stay away from twitter or at least 3rd party applications anyway.

Twitterrific CommentaryGreedy? - Version: 3.1, 1/15/2009 02:56PM PST

I just came here to download the app and saw the silly comments complaining about ads in a free program. Apparently the developers have the audacity to want to earn some income from their product? What a concept!

So some folks are offended by ads? Or they feel compelled to buy advertised stuff? I don't get it.

I'm definitely going to download the app, and I might even read the ads, just for spite! :-)

Twitterrific CommentaryLooks like the developer got greedy.... - Version: 3.0, 11/1/2007 04:40PM PST

The new 3.0 Twitterific now has ads at the top of the window, and keeps them there until you pay them $14.95 to make them go away.

Too bad, as this was a cool little app that just worked. It is following the path of so many other cool shareware and freeware apps where the developer gets greedy after having X thousand copies downloaded, thinks he's hit critical mass with the app, and then gets delusions of grandeur (and lots of dollar $igns) in their head.

Stay at 2.1, you'll be happier without the lame ads.
