TuneTagger ReviewIt simply does not work - Version: 1.0.2b2, 5/15/2009 04:22AM PST

eltoten
Sorry to say, but this software simply does not work at all. After starting up I can manage to play one song, not to mention tagging anything or even being able to open the registration panel. The software crashes without any word.
If you are thinking of this you are better off to wait for a working release unless you have excess money to waste..

TuneTagger Reviewnot ready yet - Version: 1.0.2b2, 12/25/2007 11:18AM PST

great idea. but odd interface and crashes after a few songs. only looks up currently playing song; does not look up batches or allow searches without playing track. keep trying!

TuneTagger ReviewCanto Pod is a more simplistic and better choice for lyrics. - Version: 1.0.1, 12/14/2007 08:05AM PST

I found TuneTagger to be to intrusive on my desktop. All I wanted was a way to easily import lyrics and every time I used it, it became a floating distraction on my screen.

I just downloaded the Canto Pod widget and am in love with it for its simplicity. This is one of those sharewares that actually made me want to share. Best of all, the author gives the shareware fees to charity.

TuneTagger ReviewShould have saved my money - Version: 1.0.1, 11/19/2007 08:22AM PST

I purchased this software largely based upon its high user rating. It launched the first time, but didn't seem to do anything. Each subsequent launch had similar results, but the application would simply cease to function in a decreasingly short time span. I now cannot launch the application at all, and my plea to the developer of this product has gone unanswered. In short, this application has done nothing for me but waste some of my time and cost some of my money. I downloaded Jaikoz to correct my library tags, and it has served me much, much better.

TuneTagger Reviewgreat but has problems - Version: 1.0.1, 10/9/2007 03:58PM PST

Just purchased tunetagger and have been using it for a couple of days. It's very useful and usually very accurate and thorough. I have had several annoying problems though.

Too many times, after hitting the "approve" button, the program hangs forever. It seems to occur when approving "all" when an entire album is in itunes

Also, when the program hangs, there is no way that I can find to quit the program. The program does not show up if I try to force quit and the only way to make it dissappear is to restart the computer. Not good, but maybe I'm missing something.

Overall, it's a program I will use often once the problems are corrected or I am.

TuneTagger ReviewWow -- this software is loaded... - Version: 1.0, 4/7/2007 12:32AM PST

UI Guy
Very nicely implemented piece of shareware. One of those pieces of software you didn't know you needed until you got it. I love to sing along, so it's great to have the scrolling window right there with the words. The window even scrolls with the music. (Since this is done by comparing the length of the song with the number of lines of lyrics, it's not always accurate, especially if there's a long instrumental section, but you can "hint" the lyrics by manually scrolling to the correct place in the song to correctly synchronize the lyrics and TuneTagger will remember that pace next time.) There are tons of nicely-thought-out features, e.g., if - and only if- the currently playing song is not rated, a transparent floater pops up prompting you for a rating. You can set it to either pop up for the current song or previous song. You can EVEN set it to wait until you've played the song n number of times before it prompts you (so you can listen to it a few times first). This is v1 software, so there are some rough spots, but all-in-all VERY impressive!

TuneTagger CommentaryNice interface, but fails every search - Version: 1.0, 3/20/2007 04:55AM PST

Saichology
This looks promising - I've been looking for something that can edit tags directly inside iTunes, so I installed the demo and went to some songs I know need better tags. Unfortunately, although I like the interface and the concept, the 1.0 version fails to find all the songs I tried it with. I know they're in CDDB and the free databases.

Some thoughts for the developer: If the tags are wrong, how do you expect a search based on them to work? Maybe give the user the ability to modify the search? Maybe do albums all-at-once?

Looks good though, if and when it can be made to work as promised. I will definitely keep an eye on it.

TuneTagger ReviewCoffee and Cigarettes - Version: 1.0, 3/20/2007 12:29AM PST

Clams McShrew
This is SUCH a great idea.

A pretty little program that actually does a good job of finding lyrics, and high quality album art, and other song tag info and then shows you the comparison between what it found and what you already have in iTunes, and let's YOU decide which bits to automatically update. Great idea!

Of course it still has some bugs and plenty of room for improvement, but the developer is incredibly responsive to bug reports and new ideas. I just hope he can afford to quit his day job and live off of coffee and cigarettes for the next few months until this thing is ready for prime time. Pretty soon it's gonna be awesome!
