Product Description:
Flash Video Downloader is an application which allows you to easily batch download and save streaming flash videos from most streaming video sites (e.g. youtube, google video, dailymotion, etc)
- Automatically checks for the newest version
- Locates the video files (.flv) for you so you don't have to deal with complicated "flash video downloading websites" or firefox extensions anymore
- Automatically downloads the video file (.flv) for you so less clicking
- Allows many videos to be downloaded in a batch process, leaving you free to go do something else while Flash Video Downloader takes care of your videos for you
- Gives you detailed progress of what its currently doing and presents you with a full log when finished
- Has optional Growl Support to easily notify you of the current progress
- Can shut down the computer when its finished

This works fine. It's free and so better than tubesock. Having said that, in Safari just open the activity window, look for the flv file, double click on it and it downloads! No extra program to install and open. And that's free too!!!

You give two excellent choices, converting with ffmpegx
or playing in VLC or MPlayer.
BUT, YOU FORGOT A THIRD IMPORTANT ONE>>>>
if you install Perian 0.5 codec, you can then play the files
NATIVELY in Quicktime Player, and if you have Quicktime Pro,
with the Perian 0.5 codec installed, you can then Edit and Export
NATIVELY out of Quicktime Pro to any other format, thereby
cutting ou the need for ffmpegx.
You should consider adding this to your software, as this is a
helpful tidbit for all.
