ChatterBlocker CommentaryIf you get a "not properly installed" message - Version: 1.1.2, 3/24/2007 12:19PM PST

If you tried installing the 1.1.1 version (which was broken) and then get a "not properly installed" message for the 1.1.2 installer, you will need to delete the following files before installing:

/Applications/ChatterBlocker.app
~/Library/Application Support/ChatterBlocker
/Library/Receipts/ChatterBlocker 1.1.2 for Mac - Demo.pkg

Also, double-check that your browser cache isn't displaying the old 1.1.1 download. The download page is http://chatterblocker.com/downloads.html .

Sorry for the trouble. In the process of fixing one bug, we created another. If you still have trouble with this, please e-mail me at chatter@chatterblocker.com .

Why does what ought to be a simple application require an installer? And why does that installer require my password?

No thanks.

ChatterBlocker ReviewIt installs just fine. - Version: 1.1.1, 3/24/2007 09:00AM PST

Hey, It installs just fine on my G5 running OSX 10.4.9. What's all this fuss about installation?

Anyway, man did need this! The guy in the next cubicle chatters away all day — to himself! And there is a gaggle of secretaries who are always gossiping just a bit too loudly in the next office over. It's enough to drive a working Dilbert crazy. Not only does it interfere with my work, but I can't even take a covert snooze without being woken up by all the chatter.

In my quest for peace of mind, I have tried everything to block out all the noise so I can just relax, focus and get a good day's work done. Thank god for ChatterBlocker for OS X! This do-it-all software device has replaced the Sony Radio Tuner I was using to generate soothing classical music around my cubicle ($199), the Bose noise-canceling headphones I wear to block out the sound of the air conditioning and all of the shredders and computer hard drives and motor sounds that filter in from the street ($299), the white noise generator I keep on the floor by my waste can that helped mask any sounds that slipped through the radio and the NC headphones( $75.95), the foam ear plugs I wear to reduce any stubborn sounds that get inside the NC headphones ($8.95/pr), and my stick of HeadOn (apply directly to the forehead) for my noise-induced headache ($7.99).

Thanks to ChatterBlocker I was able to unload all my anti-noise gear on eBay. In all, minus the $19.95 I paid for ChatterBlocker, this thing is saving me $570.94 !

Try it. You'll like it.

ChatterBlocker CommentaryInstaller doesn't work - Version: 1.1.1, 3/24/2007 06:23AM PST

Throws up an error message "ChatterBlocker was not properly installed. Try installing again." after installing it through the installer!

Running Mac OS X 10.4.9 on PBG4

Also I don't understand why an application like this needs an installer anyway...

ChatterBlocker Usage TipInstaller problems - Version: 1.1.1, 3/24/2007 03:15AM PST

Used the standard Installer .pkg for the demo. Tried to launch the app and was told that the app hadn't been installed properly! WTF?

This happened every time. Pretty bad when an Installer .pkg doesn't successfully install the app.

ChatterBlocker ReviewDemo - Version: 1.1.0, 3/13/2007 08:50AM PST

Well I've used this for an hour because that's as long as the demo lasts. And that is the first bad point.

The second is the price, it just isn't worth 20 bucks. For that price I can get a couple of those relaxation CDs or some babbling brook mp3s and those I can put in my car as well.

Don't get me wrong this IS a good idea and much needed by a lot of people. I just don't think the pricing is realistic when there are other alternatives available. There's nothing in this app that you couldn't cook up in GarageBand yourself.

If this was under 10 dollars it might be more realistic.
