Product Description:

Mental Case brings premium quality flash cards to your Mac and iPhone. Use it to learn a language, memorize trivia, or study for an exam. Enter your information directly, or import it from online sources like The Flashcard Exchange. Mental Case automatically generates lessons for you, syncs them to your iPhone or iPod touch, and even tells you when to study.

Mental Case is also a drop box for useful information that you come across in the course of the day. With built-in screen and iSight capture, Mental Case can collect just about any piece of information from the real and virtual worlds, and will remind you about it when you next sit down to study.

You can enter text, drop in an image, take a screen shot, or snap a photo with your iSight. Your new mental note is scheduled to appear in future lessons, beautifully-presented slide shows which make studying something to look forward to.

Mental Case ReviewQuite good, and always improving - Version: 1.4.5, 2/12/2009 03:00AM PST

This app is in continual development, and the developer is very responsive to customer input.

Mental Case does its job very well. Makes learning so much easier. You don't have to worry about when to review, or what to review, because it takes care of all that for you.

In the interests of disclosure, I did review this app previously. But that was some time ago, and before I actually bought it. There have been improvements since then, and I have had more opportunity to evaluate the app. It has certainly risen in my estimation.

Give it a try.

The design and feel of the site is great-- however, for my specific purposes (studying Chinese) it doesn't work well on two counts:

1) It does not allow for more than 2 "sides" to a card (think Chinese character, reading, meaning)

2) It does not allow for any customization of how you import your CSV data; I have most of my vocab from college separated by tabs, which works fine for apps like iFlash where you can customize how you import it. Actually, if you think about it it looks pretty silly to have a bunch of commas and quote marks in your vocab list. (首都, shoudu, capital"," ""capital city"")

If the developer could add these two features, I would gladly buy and use this app. I like the design a lot (better than iFlash) but it's too difficult to keep or convert vocab lists in plain CSV format.
