I asked for support for importing data from "The Serial Keeper". TSK is a great application, but it has been discontinued, and is no longer available. Jon was extremely responsive regarding my request. I am now a LicenseKeeper user!

LicenseKeeper ReviewA highly-recommend, must-have app! - Version: 1.4.4, 11/14/2008 07:57AM PST

These days with so many apps to track, this is a must-have. Yes, there is other software that tries to accomplish the same task, but I've tried many of them and LicenseKeeper is the best of the bunch. It's not a Swiss Army knife type of app. It's dedicated to the sole purpose of tracking your software.

I really like how easy it is to update entries. And adding documents and emails about an app is really easy and useful. No more hunting through old email trying to find that receipt with the serial number. The number and the receipt is easy to find in LicenseKeeper.

I also like the feature that tracks when a program was purchased, and how much was paid. I also use the notes feature for such things as recording the names of the users of a multi-user license, or what an app does, or my personal rating of an app that I own, or where I acquired the app.

The developer is responsive, too. I've sent suggestions and received a personal reply. He also keeps the app updated frequently.

This app is on my A list along with SuperDuper! and 1Password and Dropbox!

I have used Excel spreadsheets, Filemaker databases and just plain printouts, but LicenseKeeper is by far the best piece of software for keeping track of Software Registration and Licences. I find its ability to scan emails and extract the registration codes quite remarkable. It is quite intuitive to use. I was able to build up a list of my software and enter all the codes in less than an hour. Well recommended!!

There are a million ways to track your licenses, but I really like having a single app that keeps it all in one place, dedicated to only that. A useful feature for me is that you can store other docs along with the license. These could be PDF files sent with your license (startly software sent their license out like this to me) or emails. This way I get to keep a copy of the original email or other docs which often has useful info. I know I can do that in other ways, but by using LicenseKeeper it encourages you to actually do it because it's all built in.

One great feature is that it attempts to parse email for the serial number, developer info and developers website. The cast majority of times it has pulled all that info correctly. I don't know if I'll need all that, but seeing as it's so simple it's nice to know it's all archived. Now if I buy a software (meh, I buy a lot!) I just run it thorough here, takes 15 seconds.

LicenseKeeper ReviewExcellent software... excellent support - Version: 1.3, 1/31/2008 12:00AM PST

LicenseKeeper 1.3 is an excellent Leopard program. I had been using Password Master for the past 10 years or so ... I have many shareware, commercial software and hardware listed in that program. Now, it's out of business, so I have tried about all out there to replace the old standby. I have now found it. LicenseKeeper's tab system makes it easy to find what I'm looking for ... it is versatile without being too complex. I love the way it exhibits the icons for the programs and also the way it copies from the emails in Apple Mail. But, what I like even more is the way the author responds to questions ... he wants to help and make the program work for us the users. One communication from him and I could tell he is sincere and wants me to be satisfied. So... excellent software and excellent support! That's a great combination!

License Keeper fills a niche and does it well. I use it to hold not only registration codes but also the dmg files themselves and additional manuals or guides. The user interface is well thought out; add apps to your list by drag and drop. The auto detection of email serial numbers is neat.

LicenseKeeper ReviewPractical and Useful Application.... - Version: 1.1.1, 5/15/2007 07:13PM PST

Of course there are many ways to keep pertinent software registration info -- dedicated databases, spreadsheets, etc. What sold me here is that in this age of Internet sold shareware much of the information important to a softwares registration is provided via email or web documents. LIcense Keeper makes is easy to collect much of this info by importing the email, files and other documents associated with a piece of software. This info is stored in single database (copies of the actual files - not simply pointers) which is easy to backup. Overall, it is very useful to me. the GUI is nice and pretty easy to use. I only wish for a Listbox type grid view of the smaller pieces of data (Serial #'s, Vendor, websites, dates etc.) with markers in the grid to access emails.
