I am evaluating - the new version opens OK on the latest OS X

Don't bother downloading this version as a demo.
What I wanted was to speed up audio voice recordings without changing the pitch.
After spending time reading up on this software...
then downloading it...
installing it...
I received the message:
FREE TRIAL ENDED-QUIT
No way else around it.
Instead I am now trialing Amadeus.

I agree, the name is a bit odd. But it is a promising program. I've looked at literally every iTunes alternative out there, and this one stands out for a couple of factors. In particular, I really like being able to easily set markers to play only portions of songs. Also, the features to adjust tempo and pitch are pretty flawless. Although I expected some jumpiness when changing them, there was pretty much no discernable difference in the play. I'm not likely to use these features much, but they do at least suggest a decent quality program.
Two new features would convince me to shell out money for this:
1. iTunes 7 now provides gapless play. I've gotten pretty addicted to that and would want it incorporated into this program.
2. I'd like to see some kind of equalizer or, ideally, the ability to use VST plug-ins to adjust the sound settings. Again, I use VolumeLogic with iTunes and have gotten rather spoiled by my sound quality.
