Product Description:

TrueDisc is the world's only archival-quality optical storage format. The TrueDisc format can withstand disc damage as high as 90% and still recover the original data.

Photos Whether it's your professional portfolio or your grandson's first birthday, your photos are important to you. Although disc storage is arguably better than a "shoe box in the attic", it still leaves your images vulnerable to data corruption over time. Save your photos with TrueDisc and you can sleep soundly knowing your most precious memories won't be lost or forgotten.

Documents It could be as exciting as the final draft of next year's "Best Picture", as important as the chemical formulas for our best bet at a cure for cancer, or as boring as last years tax returns; no matter what you want to keep safe, TrueDisc has you covered.

TrueDisc has these key features:
  • The world's only damage-resistant optical storage format. TrueDisc's patent-pending data layout and reconstruction algorithms make optical media storage incredibly robust.
  • A gorgeous, transparent interface. TrueDisc works hand-in-glove with your Mac to make creating "master copies" drop dead easy.
  • A non-proprietary file format. TrueDisc's optical storage format stores at least one identical copy of your data on disc in the industry standard ISO 9660 filesystem, so you don't have to use TrueDisc to get your data back off.
  • Super space-efficient. TrueDisc's patent-pending layout and reconstruction algorithms deliver enhanced data protection with theoretically-optimal space usage. Simply put, there's no better way to make optical storage work for you.
  • Available Now. TrueDisc is the world's only solution for damage-resistant optical storage.

What's new in this version:

  • TrueDisc can now burn and restore files larger than 1.875 GB.
  • TrueDisc now handles read errors better, preventing a potential crash.
  • On a restore failure, TrueDisc now removes the partially-restored file.
  • Eliminated Sparkle's 'double dialog' problem on fresh installations of TrueDisc.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.4 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC
  • Mac OS X 10.3.9
  • Mac OS X 10.3
  • Mac OS X 10.2

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.2.8 or later

great idea for an application. the technology is sound. but the price is just outrageous. even at $52 for a single copy it is far cheaper to burn multiple dvd's and lock them away some place safe. at current prices i can get about 200 DVD discs, could burn two copies of all discs in a standard format at full capacity and have them readable on any current system and likely any future system as well.

I was pretty skeptical about this until I burned a few test discs and had my way with them. I cut them, sliced them and actually removed half of the reflective layer on the disc and this application restored them every time. I would say if you're on the fence about this app then do what I did and throw your worst at it and see if it makes you a believer. They still have a lot of work to do. Documentation doesn't really exist. The price is high for something so unproven, but has a decent interface and, in my tests anyway, proved to do exactly what it claims to do which is to protect your data through redundancy and an easy to use restore process. I am really looking forward to seeing this application mature.
