Multisite for iWeb ReviewWhy bother? - Version: 2.4, 2/4/2009 01:28PM PST

Jim Brady--2008
If multisite ftp updating is built into the new version of iWeb, I gotta ask why use a separate piece of software? I'd rather save my money for something more useful.

Although I had a bit of trouble at first getting multisite working, the tech support I received was incredibly thorough and helpful. I would have preferred live phone or chat support because it took a week or so through back-and-forth e-mail to resolve my issue, but each e-mail was detailed, personalized & professional. I absolutely love iWeb and its easiness of use. I am thrilled to be able to create multiple websites through Multisite. Now that it's up and running, it's a DREAM! Thanks so much to the excellent team at Clarkwood Software.

Multisite has proven its worth for me!
With the well-known limitations of iWeb, it is not possible to create multiple websites on a .Mac server or any other server, for that matter. iWeb creates ONLY one website and does that elegantly. But what if you want to create SEVERAL sites.

That's where Multisite comes it... allowing a person to use the simple, elegant and down-to-earth iWeb software to create as many sites as they want.

I use both iWeb and Dreamweaver... each has it's strengths... but Multisite allows me to get much more out of iWeb than the original designers allowed.

Excellent application. Compact. Easy to learn. Effective and well supported.

Multisite for iWeb CommentaryWhy expensively pay, even if it goes with freeware - Version: 2.2, 2/11/2008 12:00AM PST

I use iWebSites 2.3 since April, 2006, its freeware and It operates in same manner.

See, what is said there: http://mistergregg.com/cocoadrillosoftware/iWebSites/

"Why does iWebSites exist?

When Apple introduced its clever iLife web design software, iWeb, they left out one important feature: the ability to load and save multiple web sites. There isn’t even an “Open” menu item under the File Menu! You can create multiple “sites” that are somewhat independent of each other, but they still exist as one file (”Domains.sites”) and cannot be separately uploaded onto different web servers or into different .Mac accounts.

iWebSites rectifies this by manipulating the files in the directory where iWeb keeps its website files, and allows users to have multiple websites that are completely independent of each other. iWebSites creates new sites, duplicates sites you already have, sets the “default site” for iWeb, and allows you to delete sites.

Multisite for iWeb ReviewGreat utility that lets me do what I want - Version: 2.1, 12/29/2007 12:40AM PST

I've got a love hate relationship with Apple's iWeb. It makes some things so easy. Unfortunately I needed two separate sites which iWeb couldn't do for me. I was impressed when I started using Multisite since it made that easy too. It's a great utility and let me get back to creating web pages the way I wanted to.

Multisite for iWeb Usage TipWarning! - Version: 2.0, 8/13/2007 09:09AM PST

This application will launch your old iWeb '06 sites in the new iWeb '08. Before you do this, back up your domain.sites files and save them to a safe location. Until iWeb '08 is fixed, it will convert your old files to domain.sites2 and screw them up. See iWeb support forum for details.

I was struggling with iWeb to be able to publish sites to completely different locations. I have a site I publish to a folder and transfer to another computer to upload to my employer's server. I created a personal site as well and was getting really frustrated trying to figure out a way to publish only that site to my .mac account. All I was managing to do was to publish EVERYTHING from both sites to my .mac account. I did a web search and came across Multisite for iWeb. I downloaded the demo and solved all of my problems in about two minutes. It is a fabulous utility for managing multiple sites in iWeb without having to rename and move files manually. It is extremely easy to use. As soon as I realized how well it was going to work for me, I went ahead and purchased it. As far as I'm concerned, Apple should be bundling this software with iWeb.

We are working with multiple iweb sites for our cross country teams, or trying to. We needed a way to be able to pool iweb development from mulitple mac's and merge (import) these sites for publishing. This product appears to do it all. =) thanks! we're excited about trying it.

Multisite for iWeb ReviewNot Dangerous But Superfluous - Version: 1.6, 7/17/2007 01:08PM PST

While I don't agree that this software is dangerous I think it is rather senseless to pay for an application which is probably going to be made redundant by iWeb 2. There is a perfectly good and safe solution in iWebsites version 1 which is freeware and Version 2 Beta allows you to merge websites as well.
