Product Description:

Synchronize Google Calendar and Apple iCal. Share calendars between multiple Macs. Share calendars with your coworkers, family, and friends. And while you're at it, connect Google Calendar to your iPod, mobile phone, and other devices.

The Best of Both Worlds
What if you could combine Google Calendar's powerful sharing features, Gmail integration, and notifications with iCal's beautiful interface and offline operation? Now you can.

With Spanning Sync, your iCal calendars are kept in sync with Google Calendar, which means you can use the best features of both to manage your schedule.

Supports Google Apps for Your Domain
Spanning Sync offers full support for Google Apps for Your Domain. So whether your organization is a one-person company or a 40,000-person university, your enterprise calendars are seamlessly connected to your Macs.

Multiple Macs, One Set of Calendars
If you're lucky enough to have more than one Mac, keeping your data organized can be a challenge. But Spanning Sync makes it simple to organize your calendars. Just sync your iCal calendars on all of your Macs to the same Google Calendar account. That way whether you're using your Mac Pro at work, your iMac at home, or your MacBook on the go, your calendars are always up to date. And since Spanning Sync is licensed per-person not per-computer, you can install it on as many Macs as you like.

What's new in this version:

  • Extensive updates to both client and server sync engines
  • Syncing is up to 5 times faster!
  • Events synced from Google Calendar will inherit iCal's default alarm (Leopard only)
  • Server-based calendars no longer show up in the Spanning Sync pref pane, since Apple doesn't allow syncing them
  • Fixed a problem that could keep the next sync from getting scheduled
  • Fixed a problem that could cause detached events to get deleted from Google Calendar
  • Fixed a problem with deleting a recurrence in iCal
  • Fixed a problem where deleting a single occurrence of a recurring event from Google wouldn't sync until the main event was changed
  • Spotlight no longer tries to index the sync log
  • The "Don't sync events older than N days" option is no longer needed and has been removed
  • Events will now sync properly after moving from one calendar to another in iCal
  • Lots of other minor bug fixes

Spanning Sync ReviewI disagree with the support comment below - Version: 3.0.1, 9/17/2009 10:28AM PST

I've only been using Spanning Sync v3 for a short time. Tested it, and then bought it. I use it to sync my MacPro and my MacBook Pro and my Blackberry (SO much more reliable and less time consuming than troubleshooting Missing Sync!)

During the testing process I had several questions for the developer that received responses within 24 hours - maximum. I got a couple of responses within a couple of hours! After my purchase, I had one more issue - a corruption of my internal files (not a fault of Spanning Sync, but rather, Apple's Sync Services). The next day, I got a response from the developer with specific resolution instructions, and a request to contact him back, if the problem persisted. The first suggested resolution did solve the problem.

I can't completely attest to Spanning Sync yet - I don't use it for contacts yet, only iCal, but I've found that so far it's reliable. BUT, the customer support is superb, IMO.

I just had to make sure people saw the other side of the story.

Spanning Sync ReviewWARNING - Will not uninstall completely! - Version: 2.1.1, 3/1/2009 08:44PM PST

Did not work all that well. The big problem came when I wanted to remove it. The uninstaller leaves the Spanning Sync icon in the system preferences. When you click on it, you get Preferences Error: "You cannot open Spanning Sync preferences because it doesn't work on an Intel-based Mac". Searching on Spanning finds no files to delete.

And the final straw, there is no email link to ask questions at the site. Just useless FAQs.
