Product Description:

BlackenedPixels provides the missing link between full monitor sleep and a black screensaver (which leaves the monitors powered on and radiating light and heat - check it out in a dark room). Not only does this screensaver paint your screens black, it also powers down the displays without sending the graphics card into sleep mode. The result is less wear on the LCD without sacrificing performance or causing compatibility problems.

What's new in this version:

  • Fixed bugs with multi-monitor systems.
  • Fixed bugs with non-portable systems.
  • Certified Al Gore-friendly by DC Lobbyists.

BlackenedPixels Commentarydisplay not really off? - Version: 1.003, 5/8/2007 06:56AM PST

i love this screensaver. the only thing i wish i could do now would be to active fast user switching to bring up the login window when the screensaver activates. i tried using sleepwatcher, and that does work when the power management shuts off the display, but not when blackenedpixels does. so it looks like this is not really shutting off the diplay.

BlackenedPixels ReviewWorks on my Mac Pro just fine - Version: 1.003, 2/16/2007 03:39PM PST

I like that this powers down my monitors. I have had problems with my Mac Pro waking up from sleep mode so I've have it disabled; BlackenedPixels is the perfect middle ground for me.
