Product Description:

ClipToWebCM is a contextual menu plug-in which tries to open the currently selected text (or clipboard contents if there is no selection) as a URL in your default web browser. Of course this isn't anything a copy and paste operation can't achieve, but it's quicker. It's also more versatile than the "Open URL" contextual menu item since it doesn't require a full URL. (Note: As of version 1.0.2 the selection can also be a Finder file or folder; the text will be the name of the object.)

As of version 1.0.2 you can use the provided system preference pane to create a list of extensions that the contextual menu will use to build alternate forms of the URL, one URL for each of the extensions, if the selection does not already have an extension.

For example: suppose you control click on a text selection whose content is "news" and your extensions are {com, gov, edu). Then the following URLs will appear in the contextual menu:

Extensions can be imported from a text file. A sample text file named "SampleImportFile" is included in the software distribution.

ClipToWebCM is part of the Limit Point Software Utility Bundle. One donation activates all the software. Upgrades always free, new products are always included! Visit http://www.limit-point.com/Utilities.html for more details and a list of available software.

What's new in this version:

  • Added a preference pane which you can use to create a list of domain extensions that the contextual menu will use to build alternate forms of a URL, each with one of the extensions, when the selected text has no extension. Ex. For the list {com, gov, edu} the URLs would be: selected-text.com, selected-text.gov, selected-text.edu.
  • The contextual menu will now work when the selection is a Finder file or folder. (To some it may be mysterious why you would want to invoke such a function on a file system object; I have my own uses for that.)
