Think ReviewGreat utility! - Version: 1.2, 9/13/2008 01:48PM PST

Files and other open windows can definitely be a distraction, especially on laptop computers. I don't know what the one-star reviews are talking about.... Think is intuitive and very simple to use.

Think ReviewGood idea, complicated implementation - Version: 1.2, 4/11/2008 08:24AM PST

We all know how to switch apps: cmd-tab, dock, exposé. A background-hiding app would be a very simple thing: just hide the background, maybe provide a shortcut to turn itself on and off. Easy, right?

Unfortunately, what this app does is to unecessarily introduce 4 special concepts ("illuminate, raise, guest, refocus") and 3 very illogical keycommands (some use cmd-option, some use cmd-control). And then it adds a 8-page pdf to explain everything.

Dear Freeverse, thanks for providing us with something free, but would you mind also make it - you know - easy? Thanks!

Think ReviewKind Of Nice, Kind Of Stupid.... - Version: 1.1, 5/20/2007 09:12AM PST

looks like a lot of hoopla for something really simple. Too much work to use the interface. There ought to be a better way to implement a feature like this without having to "think" about it, like a prefpane.

This is a handy little application and it almost does exactly what I was looking for.

I would like to be able to switch between applications in my Apple dock (not a special dock) and automatically hide the programs that I have specified in the preferences. Some applications such as Yahoo Wigets or iChat I may never want to hide. Autohide can currently do this but it does not block out my desktop image like Think does.

http://www.versiontracker.com/php/qs.php?mode=basic&action=search&str=autohide&srchArea=macosx%7Cmacosx-all&submit=Go

I would also like it to stay in that program if I inadvertently click on the desktop. Currently, if I focus Think on a particular program and then I use the Apple dock to switch to another program, when I click on the background/desktop, Think takes me back to whatever application I had previously chosen in the Think dock.

It would be awesome if you could combine the features of the Autohide utility into your application. I am currently using Autohide in conjunction with Think and it works pretty well.

The only drawback is that I have to keep going into the Think dock and set it's focus to a specific application. I would rather just select a program in the Apple dock and trigger Think automatically.

Again...Great Job! Thanks.

This app really comes in handy when you leave certain windows open all day long (e.g. gmail) but don't necessarily want to see what new emails or gchats you have every time you glance over to that part of the screen.

Brilliant app!

It's rare that I need to focus on one application. On any given day, I can be found hopping from Photoshop to TextWrangler, to Safari and/or Firefox, back to TextWrangler, back to Safari and/or Firefox, to Transmit, to Entourage so that I can see who is interrupting me with an e-mail about a computer problem, back to Safari and/or Entourage, and probably to the Dell at the other end of the desk to see how badly Internet Explorer mangled my CSS this time.

Clearly, Think is not for someone like me, but more for the ADHD crowd that needs a constant reminder to focus on the lone task at hand. One wonders what additonal distractions future updates might address. Muting iTunes when it isn't the active program? Disabling screensavers? Personally, I found that dimming everything on the screen but the active program window(s) was more distracting than a desktop full of windows. But, that's me.

Did I say BRILLIANT!
I've been wondering when someone would come up with an app like this. So far, working great for me. Thanks!
