Product Description:

Most of us know the pain of using a shared computer. Privacy is a valued commodity in today's world, and maintaining it does not have to be a hassle. MacCleanse securely scans your system for activity and erases the desired information. Sure, you could go rummaging through your entire system trying to manually clean out your files, but what if you miss something? What if you accidentally delete a crucial file and lose important data? Don't take the risk. Let MacCleanse carefully and precisely scan and incinerate only what you choose. Wether you've been gift shopping online, discussing confidential business matters, visiting inappropriate web sites, or just want to clean out your system, MacCleanse is your savior. Unlike some other privacy protection tools which go through your system with brute force, MacCleanse has been thoroughly tested and only removes the necessary files, and reports all errors.

MacCleanse Reviewit works if you read the instructions - Version: 1.3, 10/20/2008 11:57PM PST

I read the instructions, set the preferences and selected the files I wanted deleted. MacClease deleted only the files I selected and immediately recovered 5GB of disk space. It worked the first time I tried it.

I am no Einstein but this is not difficult software to use. The instructions are minimal and if I was unsure what I was deleting, the information panel told me what I was doing in plain English.

I can think of more complex software or confusing procedures to do what MacCleanse does so handily but that doesn't seem like a productive use of time and energy.

MacCleanse Developer NoteResponding to Concerns - Version: 1.2.8, 10/18/2008 10:20AM PST

Koingo Software
1. The typo on the product page is something we were unaware of, and does not exist within our product or our software. It is on the VersionTracker site and should be remedied by the next update.

2. Cleansing QuickTime movies, does not delete your movies. It simply erases the *list* of recent files in QuickTime player.

3. License code issues are dealt with on a per-user basis and are very rare. We do our best to resolve the problem within one business day.

4. There is a full documentation available via the Help menu, and each object can be clicked in the main list for a more detailed description.

5. Correct, MacCleanse cannot wipe individual cookies, it will allow you to erase the whole lot from the browser of your choosing.

6. MacCleanse does not accidently delete 'wanted' files from your Firefox profile.

7. The application has been thoroughly tested, and has thousands of happy buyers.

MacCleanse CommentaryIs this a total wipe-outer? - Version: 1.2.3, 10/12/2008 06:55AM PST

It sounds like a good idea, but does this really wipe out everything in a given category? For example, I have saved a series of 50 historical educational lectures as Quicktime movies. Are these going to be destroyed if I choose Cleanse Quicktime movies? I can see wanting to get rid of little junk Quicktime news videos and silly You TUbes, but what if there are serious things you want to keep? I presume this does not kill things like Amazon histories which are kept by the company, but does this kill autofill info such as saved passwords, etc?
I share the concerns of some that it is all a little too vague.
I am checking recommend, but I really am not sure.
