CamTwist CommentaryComparison With CamCamX and iGlasses - Version: 2.1, 12/13/2009 07:14AM PST

This is just what I've been looking for. I bought iGlasses because it gave me control over brightness and contrast that was lacking in other programs. That was a step up, and it works great, given it's limitations.

Then I looked around to see how I could add special effects not available in iGlasses. I came across CamCamX and almost bought it, the cost ranges from $60 to $100 depending on what options you buy with it.

But, the damn screen is black with gray text, making it nearly unreadable, as is their web site. I suppose it's considered "Neat" by the company "B-l-a-c-k-op", but they should have more consideration for their customers. I looked around for documentation and couldn't find any. If you're not an experienced video engineer, you'll be lucky to even be able to use it (to an experienced person, it might be simple and intuitive, but to me it sure isn't.)

CamTwist gave me everything iGlasses does and more, and appears to do everything CamCamX does, far simpler and for free.

If you're looking for video control of your iSight or webcam, this should do it. It worked for me with Adobe's Flash Player (another POS), Yahoo Instant Messenger, and didn't seem to interfere with iChat, but my main concern was Flash Player, and altogether I'm extremely happy with CamTwist and would recommend it to anyone.
