Graphic Inspector CommentaryRegarding feedbacks on price - Version: 1.5.8, 4/21/2009 09:17AM PST

Just wanted to clarify: Graphic Inspector isn't just a tool to "to get more info about image files". $60 would be an excessive price for such a tool indeed. Graphic Inspector provides info about both image and vector files and reports important attributes which no other tools of its kind report, for example: fonts in vector files (embedded and regular), spot colors in both vector and raster files, EPS and TIFF compression etc. And it provides the ability to flag files with unwanted attributes using Checkup Presets.

Graphic Inspector targets professional users - mostly in print/prepress environment at this point. Graphic Inspector can be definitely an overkill for some users in which case its price isn't justified for their line of work indeed and some simpler and cheaper tools should be used. Graphic Inspector is just not such a tool.

Thanks,

I have only launched it once, not even progressing to selection of "buy" or "demo" options because I wasn't impressed with what it looks like, what config options it offers, what info it says it will provide, and of course, the excessive price.

But now, it acts like it owns the joint! It aggressively launches itself from time to time without being asked and, most egregiously, it set itself as the default for opening PDF files!

Okay, now that this error below (and several others I e-mailed the author about) are resolved, I can say this is an excellent utility that quickly reveal many file problems I need to be aware of when sending a print job out.

...but the app quits right out no matter how I launch it. I've tried to just launch the app itself, drag a file onto it, and drag a folder onto it. In each case, I got immediate unexpected quits.
