Product Description:

MAMP installs a local server environment in a matter of seconds on your Mac OS X computer, be it PowerBook or iMac. Like similar packages from the Windows- and Linux-world, MAMP comes free of charge.

MAMP is installed in the typical Mac fashion: very easily. MAMP will not compromise any existing Apache installation already running with your OS X. You can install Apache, PHP and MySQL without starting a script or having to change any configuration files!

Furthermore, if MAMP is no longer needed, it is sufficient to delete the MAMP folder and everything returns to its original status (i.e. MAMP does not modify any of the "normal" OS X).

What's new in this version:

PHP 5.2.5 and fixed some problems with Leopard

MAMP PRO ReviewWorks Very Well - Simple Setup - Version: 1.7.2, 4/18/2009 06:44AM PST

I use MAMP Pro alongside Panic Coda as a local development test server for my websites beffor publishing to the live server and it works great - plus it gives me the additional benefit of being able to quickly preview my code in a number of different actual browsers, not some half baked web preview window (hello dreamweaver I'm talking about YOU).
If you work on just one site then the free MAMP is probably the best option, however if you work on a number of different sites concurrently then the simple virtual host setup in the Pro version is definitely worth the money.
Recommended.

It says $49 here and on the MAMP website, but when you actually go to purchase it asks for $67.79. Strange...

MAMP PRO CommentaryThe developer website link is wrong - Version: 1.7.1, 7/7/2008 08:47AM PST

It looks like some other company either took over the .com website, or is spoofing the product. I found the real MAMP PRO at http://www.mamp.info/en/index.php

What is weird is that both websites have the same name and logo.

So how does Versiontracker go about verifying this information and updating their links?
