Product Description:

ScreenSteps is visual communication made easy and helps you help other people.

Teachers can teach, Bloggers can demonstrate, Tech Support can communicate, Developers can document, Trainers can instruct.

All in a matter of minutes.

And when you are done you can share your content with authors by exporting to Word (Pro), PDF, HTML, WordPress, TypePad, MovableType, Confluence (Pro), Mindtouch (Pro) or ScreenSteps Live - our hosted publishing, distribution and collaboration service.

What's new in this version:

  • Lessons and manuals have a Draft status.
  • Draft status for manuals, chapters and lessons are uploaded to ScreenSteps Live.
  • Load your ScreenSteps Live account administration screen in your browser using the File > Go To ScreenSteps Live Admin Page menu.
  • Filter content using Draft setting when exporting to HTML, PDF, or Word.
  • Exporting to Confluence now uses fileName property rather than URL property for image embedding. This makes pages portable between different urls.
  • Holding down option key while dragging lesson(s) onto a manual now adds a copies of the lesson(s) to the manual.
  • The chapter "Hidden" property has been changed to "Draft".
  • When working with manuals, splitting a lesson at a step now adds the new lesson to the manual.
  • More detailed error reporting when exporting to HTML.
  • Fix for 10.6 (Snow Leopard) spell check lock up.
  • Fixes for several UI related issues that would generate error dialogs.
  • Blogger XMLRPC API now takes off preceding "/" in path. XMLRPC library was tacking on slash without checking for existence.

This was a very useful product at the time I did my first review and it continues to improve.

The support from the developers is quick and useful.

The companion product ScreenStepsLive (a web site to which you can download lessons you have created in ScreenSteps) is easy to use and flexible. The feedback I have received from the lessons I posted is very positive.

I highly recommend Screensteps - it is good value.

I indicated in my earlier posting that the developer promised an update to fix the small problem I identified. That update was delivered within 3 hours of my first email to the developer. You can't ask for better service than that!

If all software developers were like this it would be a wonderful world.

ScreenSteps ReviewEXCELLENT SUPPORT - Version: 2.0.1r13, 1/23/2008 12:00AM PST

I downloaded this software to try it before buying. I created a small test file (which was very easy as the software does exactly what the online tutorial says it will do). I was very pleased with the results.

When I came to export the lesson file, it would export as HTML put not as PDF. I sent an email to the support centre and received a reply within 10 minutes. Over the next hour we exchanged several emails and the developer had identified the problem and promised to put out a maintenance update to solve the problem. Meanwhile he gave me sufficient information to allow me to avoid the problem (and save PDFs) in other lessons that I develop.

I am very pleased with the results I am achieving with the product and it is quick and easy to use. I had previously been producing "lessons" about Photoshop and building them in to Powerpoint presentations. ScreenSteps produces better results in a fraction of the time.
