The beautiful snowflake images used as a basis for Snowfall were taken by Wilson Bentley, and are in the public domain. See http://www.snowflakebentley.com/ for more.

Snowfall was made with Quartz Composer, which comes with Apple's Developer Tools. If you have these tools installed please feel free to open it up, see how it works, and make it better. Excuse the semi-mess of the individual snowflake generation, getting different random numbers out of Quartz Composer for each snowflake caused some unpleasantness. There's probably a way to do it better, but in the end this still looks pretty, right?

Nice little screensaver with customizable background. You can choose a background color or a picture.

A wonderful little screensaver. I got rid of the stripes, though, and switched the background color to blue.

Just one thing I noticed: after a few minutes of being active, the snowflakes tend to form repeating patterns, that destroy the illusion of random snowfall. Is this a bug, or is there some deeper meaning to be found there?
