Art Text CommentaryWhat to do - Version: 2.2.2, 11/26/2009 10:09AM PST

Way back when, I gladly purchased Art Text because TypeStyler disappeared for OS X.

The following thought remains after a year plus, namely, Art Text is relatively more complicated to use, much more. If I remember TypeStyler, every window had a space towards the bottom to type the text .. then selected the appropriate style from the Menu .. CMD-C or CMD-Shift-4 to get the image to the Clipboard .. in business .. quick and easy. The hard part was to choose the specific style, but that was my problem.

I just revisited your update to 2.2, even though what I own, 1.2.4, seems (?) to work for 10.6, I guess.

I say "I guess" because I do not remember how to input the text .. all the talk about a Text Panel .. truth is, I can't seem to find it.

Dunno .. a text style generator just should not be this complicated.

I'd jump in a heartbeat to TypeStyler, but come on, $100, not to mention their repeated assertions to the effect "OS X any minute now!" I just remember this evasion.

So I am in a quandry, to choose between (IMHO) a overpriced TypeStyler and a very, very complicated Art Text.

    Thanks for listening.

The seller's rubric says: "Whether you're an advertising manager or a small business owner, you'll find Art Text to be a powerful tool."

Quite wrong. If you're the advertising manager, your job is to buy advertising from people who know how to do it, or instruct your own graphic designer to do the design for you in-house. Cutesy Word Art (which is what this really is) will just show up your product as being amateurish.

This is a fun app, not a professional design solution. Use it for hobbies, clubs, personal pages, whatever. Just don't let it near your business.
