Product Description:
OmniGrowl is an expandable framework for sending Growl Notifications for applications that do not natively support Growl, generally which have to be polled for changes.

What's new in this version:
- New "iCal Now" notification replaces iCal 10 minute notification.
- "iCal Now" notification is variable from 2 - 20 minutes before and event.
- Some infrequent 4info text formatting glitches believed to be fixed.
- Fixed problems with flight status notifications due to authentication changes at flightstats.com.
- Removed startup status panel if Growl cannot be activated. OmniGrowl will quit with a message after 30 seconds in this case.
- OmniGrowl now checks periodically for an active internet connection, which improves performance when off-line.

I've been using OmniGrowl for quite a long time, and I do really miss it now when it's on a machine that's not installed. The developers have generally been pretty quick to address problems (though I haven't interacted with them directly), and it's otherwise been pretty unobtrusive. I would definitely recommend this. I haven't seen (at least in any recent version) problems with the preferences pane always coming up, it works as advertised. I haven't tried everything it can do, but I have tried the RSS feeds, weather, iTunes notifications, log notifications, SMART notifications, and iCal notifications, and all work just as they're supposed to.
Makes me grumpy!

Grrr. No uninstall option! I'm sick of the dane thing asking me every time if I want to make it a start-up item. I already said yes a hundred times, then I started to say no. Now I want to uninstall it. Can't.

I have OmniGrown AND GeekTool, and they fulfill totally different niches. I don't see OmniGrowl running shell scripts, and nor should it. They're different, and that's good. But the unnecessary and ill-advised jab at GeekTool is pretty unprofessional, and is enough to make me think twice about using OmniGrowl.
