Product Description:

zeitAnker Annotation Edit - a unique editor for professional subtitles, captions and annotations on Mac OS X 10.4

Annotation Edit is designed to give production houses and eLearning environments a smooth subtitle workflow for Apple DVD Studio Pro / Final Cut Pro, QuickTime WebTV and broadcast.

  • Annotation Edit can import

What's new in this version:

  • ARTE EBU STL N!9 export: added option to create ARTE doc sheet. The doc sheet requires a linked movie to include movie duration. Illegal characters are replaced by "%" on export. This makes revision easier than automatic normalization. According to ARTE N!9 text position is limited to bottom, color to yellow, italics are omitted.
  • Enhanced ARTE template.
  • EBU STL import/export: Solved square bracket character encoding for open subtitles. Square brackets are encoded as < or > with ARTE N19.
  • SCC closed caption export/import: Closed caption buffer delay is compensated. For import of files without buffer compensation, you can turn it off.
  • Text details: Added subtitle menu entry to add and modify text details in the document view. Added column to display availability of text details. Text details are displayed italic in video overlay.
  • QuckTime export: Text details can be exported as timed text details (karaoke) or italic.
  • Text details are exported as partial italic with Blu-Ray BDN, DVD Studio Pro STL, EBU STL, SRT, SCC, SSA or DFXP. For partial italic you should turn off italic per subtitle. Blu-Ray BDN plugin 1.4.5 is required for partial italic .
  • Updated Blu-Ray BDN plugin vs. 1.4.5: Added NetBlender DoStudio DoST format.
  • Added QuickTime tracks drawer. Disable/enable tracks and rebuild waveform. Perian may not like disabling tracks on the fly when looping videos.
  • Added option to add and display subtitle revision mark.
  • Removed shortcuts for font-size changes in document text-view to prevent accidentally changes to document text-view ruler/font settings. These are saved with the document and may allow consistent preview of character limits.
  • Fix: CPS/WPM display updates correctly again.
  • Video overlay no longer mimics hard wraps when "Hard wrap keeps lparagraphs" is turned off. This behavior was introduced in 1.4.6.
  • Added new shortcuts.
  • Minor polishes.

Annotation Edit ReviewGreat job - Version: 1.7.3, 4/22/2009 07:45AM PST

I make Blu-ray titles. We export EBU stl, and have been very pleased that the only adjustments necessary prior to final rendering have been to manually insert the "partial italics". We just finished a major project, and were very happy; but now, the new version would have saved us a couple of hours or more, by importing partial italics automatically. Thank you, Annotation Edit.

Annotation Edit ReviewThis version is a killer - Version: 1.4.9, 10/8/2008 03:00PM PST

Swift2
The one weakness that existed in Annotation was that it wouldn't italicize a single word in a Blu-ray title -- like a book title or a ship's name, or the like. This version fixes that. I can't think of a single feature now it doesn't have. Again, the production industry should definitely pay attention to this fast-rising application.

Annotation Edit CommentaryI've become a complete fan - Version: 1.3.5.1, 6/2/2008 12:55PM PST

Swift2
I expressed some hesitation about this package when I first wrote about it, but its steady development, and my growing understanding of the sometimes unconventional way that it works, particularly for title creation, have erased any doubts I had. The Blu-ray plugin, for example, is a plain winner, besting software packages that you pay a lot more for. You can create 32-bit subtitles with alpha channel, and two different sorts of 8-bit titles that work with Scenarist. There's a preview, so you can see exactly what your type will look like.

For many, many uses, you get more from this program than you do from programs that sell for tens of thousands more. Having used a number of software packages out there now, I can recommend this program whole-heartedly. It continues getting better and better. Buy it now before the price goes up!
