Product Description:

zeitAnker Annotation Edit - a unique editor for professional subtitles, captions and annotations on Mac OS X 10.4

Annotation Edit is designed to give production houses and eLearning environments a smooth subtitle workflow for Apple DVD Studio Pro / Final Cut Pro, QuickTime WebTV and broadcast.

  • Annotation Edit can import & export DVD Studio Pro/Spruce STL, STL EBU binary (all latin characters), Final Cut Pro XML - including italic style, alignment and position, SCC closed caption (line 21) - including italic style and position.
  • Import of DVD Studio Pro subtitle track item description xml - all languages at once, including italic style, alignment and position.

There are numerous other unique features, such as automatic audio spotting, easy handling of Windows text files, unlimited tracks, server integration, MS Excel xml import, QuickTime 7 unicode text export and lots more. Typical dead ends in workflow often vanish.

The tool is fast, reliable, easy to use and available as universal binary.

What's new in this version:

  • SCC Export:
Alignment top and bottom: Added centered / centered justified left / right / right justified left
Justified left is set as default in Import/Export preferences.

  • SCC Export/Import, QuickTime closed caption export:
Revised extended character set support

  • Corrected closed caption placement for Apple TV encodings.

  • BDN Export plugin 1.3:
Added left / center/ right justification. Justification requires all characters to be in one font.
(Arial and Times contain the music symbol.)
Added 8-bit with simple transparency (hard edges, non-transparent shadows.)
Limited 8-bit to 255 colors.
Fixed stability issues.
Up to 50 % faster, but locking rendering.

  • Fixed an error that some "Fast Logging" modes were bound to movies with native time-code.

  • Final Cut Export XML Export option: backdrop for subtitles (color/opacity,crop).
Due to short-comings in Final Cut Pro the width cannot be exactly determined.
Use the fine-tuning setting to adjust the width in Final Cut Pro.
Then enter the correct value when exporting, the corrected value will fit for all subtitles.
This feature requires the included new Final Cut plugin.

  • QuickTime movie export:
New option to add a semi-transparent backdrop.

Annotation Edit ReviewGreat job - Version: 1.7.3, 4/22/2009 07:45AM PST

I make Blu-ray titles. We export EBU stl, and have been very pleased that the only adjustments necessary prior to final rendering have been to manually insert the "partial italics". We just finished a major project, and were very happy; but now, the new version would have saved us a couple of hours or more, by importing partial italics automatically. Thank you, Annotation Edit.

Annotation Edit ReviewThis version is a killer - Version: 1.4.9, 10/8/2008 03:00PM PST

Swift2
The one weakness that existed in Annotation was that it wouldn't italicize a single word in a Blu-ray title -- like a book title or a ship's name, or the like. This version fixes that. I can't think of a single feature now it doesn't have. Again, the production industry should definitely pay attention to this fast-rising application.

Annotation Edit CommentaryI've become a complete fan - Version: 1.3.5.1, 6/2/2008 12:55PM PST

Swift2
I expressed some hesitation about this package when I first wrote about it, but its steady development, and my growing understanding of the sometimes unconventional way that it works, particularly for title creation, have erased any doubts I had. The Blu-ray plugin, for example, is a plain winner, besting software packages that you pay a lot more for. You can create 32-bit subtitles with alpha channel, and two different sorts of 8-bit titles that work with Scenarist. There's a preview, so you can see exactly what your type will look like.

For many, many uses, you get more from this program than you do from programs that sell for tens of thousands more. Having used a number of software packages out there now, I can recommend this program whole-heartedly. It continues getting better and better. Buy it now before the price goes up!
