Product Description:
Crossword Puzzle Helper is a utility designed to help you find words with a certain length when you do not know all the letters. Type in the word using "?" for each unknown letter and press the "Start" button. If the first word is not the one you need, press the "Find Another" button. If the last word meeting the criteria has already been displayed, you see a message, "Sorry, no help!" The default word set has over forty-eight thousand words. You may use the Maintenance window to add new words or delete words in your word set. The first time you launch the utility, the default word set will be loaded and saved. When you next launch the utility, your word set (with changes) will be loaded and when you quit, the current word set will be saved. You may also revert to the default word set by clicking on the "Use Default Word Set" button.

Nice app, here are some easy improvements...

There are a few functions that could EASILY be added/improved:
1. When you add a new word it does not tell you if the word already exists in the database. You end up with duplicate entries. There is no reason why a user should have to waste his time to search for the word first, see if it exists in the database, and then decide whether to add it. The app should just be programmed to eliminate duplicates.
2. When performing a search, the app should tell you how many words are retrieved. As of now it returns a list of words but you cannot tell how many words are actually in the list.
3. You should be able to add new words to the database by importing from a file. As of now you have to add words one at a time!
4. Similarly, you should be able to export lists, or at least cut and paste them.
There are other features that could easily be added, such as a vowel-consonant pattern finder, or narrowing answers to multiple letters (e.g., find me a list of all 8-letter words that end in "ate" that begin with s, t, or e. Right now that would require 3 separate searches, and without cut and paste you cannot view all these words at one time).
