Product Description:

Xslimmer reduces the disk space taken up by Universal Binary applications preserving just the Intel or PowerPC version.

Xslimmer is a new, user-friendly way to size down your Universal Binary apps, without losing any of their functionality by removing the code inside the Universal Binaries that does not fit with your machine's architecture, a code that never gets executed and just wastes your disk space.

What's new in this version:

Xslimmer 1.1.5 features a new option to slim applications immediately after the analysis phase is finished, without waiting for the user to press the Slim button. This option is accessible from a revamped Preferences pane, that offers much more flexibility to fine-tune several operation details. In addition, a rare bug that could cause Xslimmer to crash has been fixed.

New features

  • Direct Slim feature. Have Xslimmer automatically slim all applications you drop, no questions asked. After the analysis phase is over, Xslimmer will proceed to the Slim phase without waiting for user confirmation. Of course, applications in the public blacklist or in the user's private list of exclusions will not be processed.
  • Revamped Preferences. Preferences have been organized in new category panes with the intent to make it possible to access many new options in an user-friendly way. New options include access to the "Direct Slim" feature, the ability to ignore not slimmable applications instead of displaying them in the window, or details such as the possibility to disable all sounds.
  • Other UI improvements. Pressing Cancel while Xslimmer is analyzing a list of dropped objects only stopped after completing all the items in the current folder being analyzed. Now, the process is much more responsive because it stops after the current application has been analyized.

Bugs fixed

  • A rare bug that could cause Xslimmer to crash has been solved. This happened when adding applications to the history log after they had been slimmed down, and was introduced in version 1.1.4 of Xslimmer.

Blacklist update

  • DiskWarrior, Drive Genius, REALbasic 2006 have been added to the public blacklist. Thanks to all reporters!

Xslimmer CommentaryOne glaring flaw? - Version: 1.7.4.1, 9/21/2009 06:36AM PST

Diks Toosl
This would suddenly become more worth buying if it would identify non-universal binaries & refuse to strip them of code (specifically, XSlimmer can't say 'oops, this is only PPC code, better NOT strip the PPC code from this file!, or User won't be able to run it at all'.

Allowing to the user to brute-force it is tolerable, but more in line w/ freeware than payware.

This is trialware – NOT shareware: until you pay US $ 14,95 you can free up only 50MB!

App developers like that can go scru themselves, afaic.
