Xslimmer CommentaryOne glaring flaw? - Version: 1.7.4.1, 9/21/2009 06:36AM PST

Diks Toosl
This would suddenly become more worth buying if it would identify non-universal binaries & refuse to strip them of code (specifically, XSlimmer can't say 'oops, this is only PPC code, better NOT strip the PPC code from this file!, or User won't be able to run it at all'.

Allowing to the user to brute-force it is tolerable, but more in line w/ freeware than payware.

Xslimmer ReviewThis is NOT shareware! - Version: 1.7.4, 9/16/2009 08:47AM PST

Rokcet Scientist
This is trialware – NOT shareware: until you pay US $ 14,95 you can free up only 50MB!

App developers like that can go scru themselves, afaic.

by the same people, I think
called "Trim-app"-you stick the file in /sbin-and then from terminal type:
<Trim app -a i386>
It will cull your whole system at once in a few seconds-no messy one app at a time scenario

where -a = all; and i386 = delete everything EXCEPT i 386 binaries

Xslimmer ReviewWorks great on my Mac Pro (Intel)! - Version: 1.5.1, 4/11/2008 05:33AM PST

I used this app to remove 1.5GB of PPC code and superfluous languages from my Applications folder. I have had no issues with the software since and the Genie function is great. I especially like the blacklisting which the developer had thought through well. Great stuff!

Xslimmer CommentaryMonolingual has its problems - Version: 1.5.1, 2/24/2008 06:45PM PST

it will often leave dozens of localizations behind. I go in with EASYFIND and kill off the rest;

Also-it does something weird when it strips binary-iMovie wont work too good and other things that should be universal or binary

XSlimmer allows you to drag and drop folders and apps for slimming but does not do as thorough a job as Monolingual. This may have something to do with the blacklist but have never had a problem after running ML.

So why pay for XS when you can get ML for free?

I gave it a chance. It's a great software. I got 4GB of free space and faster applications. Why Apple makes PPC users keep x86 useless code? Some apps like FinalCut have 60% + x86 code.
Thanks guys!
